Where I Belong: Life in the Village and Town

in Hive Learners22 hours ago

Hello, everyone!

Welcome to another interesting featured topic. We gonna share our different opinions about village life and town life.

To begin with, I am a product of the village life or rural area. I was born and brought up in a rural area, where the advantages and the disadvantages of lifestyle were/are displayed in the culture of the rural lifestyle. The majority of people were born in the village. This was the main root of where I was taught how to serve people, cook delicious local meals, farm, and work on the farm; I learned how to run food and do other important home chores that were helpful and impactful to children's lives. Unlike, the children of today, who can't be the best cook.

In the village, I went a far distance to fetch water and firewood, cook in the local kitchen, eat local food, which used to be delicious, and do other pertinent things a person could do as long as you are in the village. Some people call their village barbaric because the life they are living in the village is not the same as life living in the urban environment. Now things have changed in my village, it has become the urban area on it own.

My village is my identity; it's what points people to where I'm from. Right now, I'm in the village enjoying a delicious meal prepared by me. The knowledge of being with my people in the village gave me exposure to how to live a balanced life in the urban area. In this life, we need to know where we are coming from and live comfortably.

I said earlier that I was raised in the village, from nursery school to secondary school. When I finished my secondary school education this is where I moved to live with my pastor and his family who were living in the urban area. You know, how the urban area is, houses compacted, from your dialect to speaking English all the time, your dress code will change and every other thing. Fortunately, I was given admission to start university. I left the house to town for the sake of school and I tell it wasn't easy. I know it is good to change the environment, which is ultimate for people in the village who have experienced village life to change to another environment where they can learn new things about life, to relate with another set of people; this will give a fresh and new mindset.

Most of the experience I got in the village I apply when I am in the city doing a particular thing, especially when I want to cook.

Life in rural areas is sweet; someday, you will need to go and see your family and spend some days or weeks with them. This gives you a sense of belonging. I can't stay in town for a year without visiting my village unless I'm far away, like outside the country; even with this distance, I would still connect with my people.

Therefore, life in the village and town is better for a balanced life.

Life in the village isn't bad based on my experience, there are boreholes, I can get cooking gas but electricity comes easier with solar installation.

Anytime or day, I will always choose the rural settlement...

Wow, that's true. Life in the village isn't bad at all. In my village now all the quality needs are available for a comfortable life. Thank you friend for choosing rural area.

There was a time when my place still relies on on wood for cooking and fetching water on deep wells but the recent developments have made my rural life much easier while still living on a peaceful environment.

Everything has changed in my village. It has turned to the urban community, boreholes from house to house making life comfortable. Thank you dear
