Greetings, friends!
Happy weekend and God bless you.
I will start with how I started secondary and finished without a small Nokia phone. Small phones or Android phones carry a lot of distractions in our generation today. To the point, our students are no longer interested in their academic pursuits longer. Through their phones, they have gotten to know the things they wouldn't have known and it adds to another's distraction.
Throughout my studies in secondary school, I did not know nor use any phone to make calls to my parents or teachers. There were no phones for my homework and other activities carried out in the school at that time. Well, technology wasn't rampant during our time. Not having phones in our time helped us focus more on our studies, and at that time, we were very creative in answering questions in class and the exam hall. We were able to give answers to every question asked in the class without browsing or using AI. Creative thoughts and ideas came into play and some of our teachers were surprised by the answers we gave in the class. Some would be asked, how did you know? There wasn't a phone, AI, or any technological tool for searching for answers. There was full concentration, focus, and determination to achieve the academic pursuit successfully.
Now, things have changed, and we are in a technological era where toddlers can access Android phones easily. I'm saying this with experience. I have younger siblings at home and I tell you the truth that those children can access my phone with ease, even when I don't show them some things. They know my password and they know how to draw my phone pattern to access it when I am not around. Right now, my younger sister, who has not entered secondary school, is longing to have a cell phone. I should get her one; she will be distracted. Another thing she has been longing to speak with her elderly siblings, who aren't home. Good one, it can affect her academic performance at a younger age in the nursery school. Notwithstanding, some parents have gotten their children phones in the nursery and primary level, just to get connected to them when they need something or when something happens. It can turn out to be a distraction to those children if care is not taken.

I started carrying my first phone the day I got admitted to the university, and it was a small phone that couldn't help me browse. I had to manage. In my year 2 semester, I got an Android phone from a phone for browsing and researching. In 2023 I bought my Android with my money.
From my perspective, phones should not be allowed in secondary schools to promote better concentration and improved academic performance among students. Using phones during classes and tests is a whole lot of distraction. I can recommend iPhones for university students because they have grown to the stage of maturity, and they can use them to carry out school and social activities that may seem too massive to handle. Even at the University level using phones during lecturing is a distraction. Phones should be prohibited at the nursery and primary levels of education and minimize pressing of phones in the university during classes.
Phones into the examination hall is what I didn't see when I started school but now it flying everywhere from secondary to the university. It's causing more harm because so student won't read again. Laziness will be their second name at school. It should be highly prohibited during tests and exams time. Educators should teach student how to read and have understanding and students should determine to buckle up their belt for better results.
Thank you for reading through.

I agree with you that phone can be a distraction to students and distract them from focusing on their academic.
And so it's prohibition in the school is necessary for the greater good.
Prohibition in the school environment would be helpful, just for concentration and focus. Thank you for reading.
I started using phone when I was in primary one. Though I only used it for calls and to play games.
Nowadays, what little children can do with phones, some adults can't. I like your suggestion of not allowing phones in primary and secondary school and in tertiary institutions, it should not be allowed into the examination hall.
One day, I was shocked when my little sister carried my phone and played a game that I had never played before. I was even learning from her sef 😂😂😂😂. I asked her who taught, and she said nobody. ewehe
LoL . The way those kids are smart enn.. it is well🤣
Phone can make them to be so lazy, and yeah that distraction is the boss of them all. They will hardly listen to lectures. I agree with your point.
It is a big distraction, dear. Thank you for reading.
