Hi, everyone!
Welcome to a new week of favor, ideas, wisdom, Grace, and strength. Without these virtues, we won't make it, in our different ways.
In today's world, where we have a social media landscape, the good news and the bad news are often oversight. Before, we used to read headlines from the newspaper or news outlets and watch our television or listen to the radio as the news was being read. Today we are bombarded with different social media handles accompanied by misinformation in the world. You don't know which one is true or not. However, it is pivotal to note that all things being said are not true, as this will drive some who love the truth to critically and analytically assess the information they want to hear.
Moreover, the use of journalism presently is not proper. The crew of journalists should propagate or communicate to people how to use information appropriately to avoid confusion and misinformation.
I do have deadlines popping up and pictures attached to it. The one that interests me, I opened and read but some are structured with opinions, not a report of what had happened. This is what we are facing in our modern world of media.
Last month, one of the trending actresses, actress Ekene Umenwa on social media gave birth, and I was so happy reading the news from her friend's page. The first day I stumbled on the news, I screamed with joy that she had given birth to a bountiful baby boy. After 3 days, another person posted that she had given birth to a baby girl with her baby bump pictures. Here, I was very confused, but my happiness was that she had delivered safe and sound; she and the baby were hearty. Whether it was a boy or a girl, it was given by God. The issue was that the gender was being misinformed.
Now, I have found out that, it is a girl. I critically and analytically confirmed because I'm a human being who doesn't want to be misled by wrong information. I went through her page and saw the truth. I love her so much, that was the reason I went thus far to find out the truth.
People on Social media are something else. They need help. Some of them knew the truth, but they purposely sent the wrong information across to confused people. Were they doing the right thing? Yes, but in the wrong way, misusing social media privileges.
If people on social media continue to assimilate information that is not true, Facebook or news on different channels can be banned or lose viewers.
Just have it in mind that the truth won't be spelled out all the time; just have a particular source you could have your news published for the truth being told. You are misled by information; you will also mislead others as you pass through the information.
Overall, sensitivity, asking questions, and discernment are crucial in this aspect and we need to be the carriers of the truth with influence. Social media platforms should be influenced by the truth.
