Self-medication is not advisable!

Hi, everyone!

Welcome back from $panda and $pandaminer week, it was a great time to learn about the new tokens on the Hive Blockchain. I'm excited that I partook in the delegation and shared my thoughts concerning the tokens.

This is the Weekly Featured for the members of the community. It's a great one to keep the users busy and strategic in their thoughts.

Self-Medication Is Important

We all know a little bit about self-medication and how handy it is to have as a skill. However, at what point does it become dangerous? Tell us about a time when you or someone you know suffered as a result of self-medication gone bad.

I would start mine this way. Medication was for the benefits and the healing of the body and it was meant for experts and healthcare professionals to advise or direct us, it wasn't meant for self-administration. That's the reason we seek nurses' or doctors' attention when we want to take medicine or drugs for our health to improve.

I have been with medical professionals, I have been monitoring their ways, I ask them questions when necessary and I obtain satisfactory answers from them.

I have not attempted self-medication before, and I learned that it's not a proper way to administer drugs to yourself. Without proper guidance, the victim might give himself or herself a wrong diagnosis that would lead to something, tragedy.

Even this small multi-vitamin, I don't take without guidance. Those drugs are powerful and can be harmful to the immune system if it is not well taken.

I just remembered that I took an herbal medicine as an enema to cleanse my bowel; the leaves were too much, and it intoxicated me so badly. It was as if they poured ice blocks on me after taking the enema. I was freezing, and I was helpless, too. Though my mom used to prescribe herbal medicine for me since I watched her that first day, she took it for me, and this time around, I decided to take it by myself without her advice. The first time I took it was in the village where my mum prepared it for me. The second time I took it was in the town. I overtook it and it intoxicated me. That same day, my menstruation came out. I didn't expect it, and it wasn't the right time for it to come out. My head was hot and my stomach was very chilled. I had to bear the consequences of it but I thank God nothing happened to me that would cause my people to run helter-skelter.

Since then, I never took an enema again. I preferred warm water as my enema over herbal enema.

This is the exact thing that will happen to you when you take an overdose of medications followed by side effects, which is not proper.

I have seen my aunty, who took injections in her hips, and I wasn't scared because she was a medical personnel. She did it comfortably and went away.
She does it herself because she is an expert.

Self-medication is good and the professionals need to administer it to themselves. Not we, who are not in that field or well-grounded about drugs.

Overall, Self-medication should be done with caution and under the guidance of a healthcare professional to avoid being intoxicated. Showing us that herbal medicines are powerful and should be well-administered.

No excuse is indeed good enough to defend self-medication. In my view, professional medical advice should be sought when an individual is sick.
We also should try to seek safety first as there are very dangerous drugs in the public space. Some of the drugs are not even for humans.

True, professional medical advice should be obtained before proceeding with drug consumption, orally or injected.

Medication is not something anyone can guess for themselves because once it is used wrongly, it could cost someone his or her life, and that is why I don't do it except for the drugs I am familiar with ever since I was little, which treat my malaria quickly.

Aside from that I don't even like drugs so self-medication is never my thing.

😂😂😂 you don't like drugs. How do you go about it when you are sick?

I don't like drugs too but when I'm sick, I need to take drugs prescribed by the doctor, just to get over the pain. Thank you for reading through.
