You do have a lot of good friends—reputable ones, in fact—and that tells a lot about you too.
Personally, I do not consider everyone my friend, actually. It takes a whole lot to be in that category of mine. The "criteria" isn't out of the ordinary, but just enough to clearly differentiate between "friend" and "acquintance."

You're right, not everyone is a friend even though they all can be classified generally as one, they'll be offended if we called them acquaintances also but when the chips are down, we know those that'll stick by us probably more than blood would.
