Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. The continuous evolvement of technology has had so much impact on our lives and our environment; some of these impacts are good, while some are bad. From the days where we used birds to send a message to the days of mobile phones and now smartphones, from the days where we needed to visit the library to the days where we can do the research from the comfort of our homes, we also had days where to carry out research you had to consult so many authors and articles online; today you can just have artificial intelligence do it all and send you a file.

Artificial intelligence has made life a lot easier, especially pertaining to academics. These days a single assignment will have you moving from site to site searching for the answers you feel comfortable with, as there will be many answers, and sometimes they vary, forcing you into confusion, but since the introduction of artificial intelligence, things have turned around. Artificial intelligence gives you direct answers; if you want it long or brief, all you need to do is pass the instruction. Though lately I am starting to feel like artificial intelligence is doing too much, especially with the new features of deep faking.
In layman's terms, deepfaking is simply the use of artificial intelligence to make a video or a picture of a person saying and doing things they did not actually do. I have talked about a video of Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola in person saying a lot of things that could have gotten him sanctioned by FIFA, but I was surprised I did not see a need like that anywhere, and then I checked the comment section of the post, and there I found out the video was AI-generated, and all I could think of was, 'What if there was no way to confirm it was AI-generated? Does that mean the coach will be sanctioned and punished for something he did not do?'
I also saw in a Korean movie where a deepfake sound of his niece crying and begging him to do whatever he was asked to do was used to compel him into committing suicide so they could take over his business. It was a deepfake, and his niece was safe in school and playing with friends while he was being compelled into committing suicide, which he did without hesitation just to save his sister, whereas she was fine and was not even anywhere near danger. I have even seen pictures, audio sounds and videos generated using artificial intelligence, and all were used for the wrong purpose that can actually land one in a problem.
Some people make it look like deep fakes are all about framing people and using them for the wrong things, but I think they can also be used for some good acts too.

Humans always try to use things for the wrong things more; that does not mean those things have no merits. So yes, deepfakes can actually be used for good acts too; they can be used for advertisement, just like the burger seller I know is using deepfakes to advertise her burger, and they can also be used to create memories of loved ones who are no longer with us.
This is what I said , the problem lies with we humans, because we are the ones that use these technologies in a bad way.
Many uses the technology wrongly more than what it is mearnt for.
The problem as you've stated is that people always misuse these opportunities. Thanks for sharing.
