Every day, in the hospital or in any part of the world, many people die due to one reason or the other. I have seen people die, and i have aided in the delivery of a new born. I have cared for a patient this minute, and the next minute, he passed away just like that.
There are many causes of death out here, hundreds, and probably thousands if things that can take the life of an individual within seconds.
We live in a democratic country, a place where the head of state has the capacity to make new rules and regulation to guide the state affairs.
The concept of enforcing the dead to save the living by making laws so that their organs will be donated to a needy person, is actually, good, but as much as it is good, it may also have a negative impact in the society.
Inarguable, it brings a sense of joy, relief and calm to see that a loved one will survive an organ failure because there is an organ somewhere that will be donated to him or her when their organ finally fail.
Yes, in factuality, if this rule is implemented, there is no doubt that there will be a great reduction in deaths as a result of organ failure. However, looking at it from a totally new and different perspective, there are many negative effects i think this will have to the community at large.
Remember when your doctor tell you that drinking and smoking has has a high risk of liver damage and other organ damage? welp, if su h law is made, the doctor will be taken for granted.
Most people will live life as if they are cars with their spare parts somewhere. Just make a phone call, and a new brand kidney, heart, liver or lungs will be at your door step. If worst comes to worst, money will solve the problem, which may lead the poor and less financially previledged to go into heinous crime, just to get two lives.
Hypothetically, it can be said that the major reason why most people live their life with great care, and cherish each moment they spend, is probably because of the fact that they do not have any spare parts. Drinking too much will damage the liver and there is a high probabilty of not getting a spare liver from someone, thus, they avoid drinking, which in turn saves the people around them.

If I am in a state where i can not be saved from the claws of death, and my organs are fully functioning, i will want to donate these functioning organs to somebody that needs it and will make good use of it to positively impact the community and world at large. I would not want to give my organs to somebody that will use my organs, a piece of me, to cause nuisance.

I feel that democracy as a system of government will not allow such a law to be enacted without first considering the long-term effect on the culture and tradition of the people.
However, human lives can be preserved when organ harvesting of dead people is permitted but the procedure should be defined.
There are lot of factors to consider before making such policy.
Yes, human life can be preserved, and lifespan elongated, there are lots of harms that c an come as a result of this.

Making this kind of policy a reality will definitely attracts a lot of sentiments from people. Just like you said, the reason most people are careful with what they do with their body is because they know how severe the consequences of it is but in a scenario where organs can be ordered like groceries it will definitely make people feel like they have extra lives.
