Reflecting on an Unforgettable Year

in Hive Learners9 days ago

As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on my journey within the year. I must admit that it's been a positive year for me despite the storm along the line. There has been victory back to back as I kept pushing and facing the reality. The most important thing is that we reached this point strong enough and are getting ready to journey into the next year.

There are many unforgettable memories of this year, starting with with my mum who was saved from the hands of the kidnappers, to my husband who got a new better job after his sudden lost of job last year and to myself for the big step I took as a new entrepreneur. All these and more are the memories of this year but there's one that stands out for me which changed my perspective as a parent. A journey which only did not test my resilience but deepened my faith and taught me gratitude.

No parent wishes for prolonged health issues for their child, but like I used to say, not everything we can control. For the past five years it's been a journey through storms as my first child started experiencing seizures, leading to memory issues and setbacks in his academic journey. The road with him has been filled with medical appointments, therapy sessions, and countless sleepless nights—not to talk about how the whole experience has been toiling with my emotions.

However, this year has been different with unforgettable memories created. I have diligently been working with his doctors, following every bit of their instructions, and I have remained committed to supporting my child in any way I can. Even when they made it clear that the road to his stability might be long, I was in for the process and even went into more research on how to improve his health and his academic progress gradually. Working with his teachers wasn't negotiable, and the whole process brought admirable results, far better than what it used to be.
I could only remain positive and be hopeful that it's gonna be alright. I think my positivity helped my emotions a lot, and then I was always praying fervently, and the whole fear that usually clouded my mind because of this child of mine left me. It's incredible to experience a full year with him without seizures. I feel like I won an American visa. Even my relatives were keeping track of his episodes, and when November came, most of them called to express gratitude to God for not hearing that we got admitted to the hospital again over his health challenge. Like it's been a year I never slept in the hospital, unlike previous years where I lost count of several times we used to get admitted.

Aside that, I see him doing cognitive task that usually seems daunting to him. His confidence kept growing and also his academic progress well admirable to the point that his teacher confirmed him doing far better than some students without brain issues. The whole changes I am seeing today didn't happen overnight, it took processes, patience, prayers, research, commitment and more to see this results. What more memorable achievement can I reflect on more than this? I feel relieved and this inner peace within. Even though he still experience fever like other children but at least not that kind of scary seizure that use to torture me emotionally.

As we prepare for the coming year, I see this experience with me—not as a burden but as a beacon of hope. I believe it's a story that will continue to inspire me and others who may be navigating their own storms.

There will always be storms, we only pray that they don't last and we able to overcome it. The years was a good one, though there were trials and temptations.

Hmmm...
This is really inspiring. To be positive minded does wonders because the devil can't find a way in your thoughts.
I'm really glad he is making remarkable progress and I pray he would have a perfect health soon.

Indeed, one year is not a little time, and many things and incidents happened this year, and those are unforgettable.
