The deepfake technology was one of the fears millions of people have for AI technology, and even before it became a reality, there have been numerous debates about how much harm it can bring to humans.
These days, we see people create videos of themselves in another country and others, which can be quite fun, but in the bigger picture, this same thing we consider fun can also bring chaos.
I was scrolling through social media when I saw the video of a celebrity hospitalized with a caption that he needs help. I had to go check the credibility of the news, which turned out to be false; the video was generated with AI, and it was just too perfect.
Understandably, there was definitely a good reason behind deepfake AI technology, but a lot of users chose to use it wrongly. While there are so many challenges attached to this technology, I still see so many good things that can be done with deepfake AI technology.
One of the good things about deepfake technology is how it has given people the privilege to not just express themselves but also show their creativity.Someone once said he earns through creating educational animation videos for kids using deepfake AI technology. He has always wanted to learn animation technology but couldn't due to finances. Now he's learning and can afford to study animation just to take his hustle to the next level.
Aside from this person, there are so many people in the entertainment industry who use deepfake to create high-quality videos, and it's working for them perfectly.
Deepfake AI technology can also be used for educational purposes by teachers and not students because they can easily get addicted; we don't want another wave of this addiction among kids. Teachers can use deepfake AI technology to create learning stimulation videos just to help students understand better in classes.
One of the things I have seen among kids is how they don't forget the things they see easily, so creating learning videos using deepfake can go a long way in the education section.
One other good thing about Deepfake technology is that it is capable of giving voice to those who lost theirs. It has its use case in health, and it is the type that is most touching. There are some illnesses that could make one lose their voice, or even with severe accidents, people can lose their voice in the process, but with deepfake technology, the doctors can recreate the original voice of the patient using his old recordings.
Think about this: where the children are involved, they can hear the voice of their parents again, and that's a lot of healing on their part.
When it comes to advertising marketing, this is another aspect this technology can be useful for. As a businessman or woman, imagine you creating a hyper realistic version of yourself doing your business adverts at a location of your choice; that's a win, you know. Especially for those of us who are shy facing the camera, lol, with deepfake technology, I will gain the visibility I needed in my business.
Wrapping up, a lot of inventions we have today have both a dark side and a useful side. Think of how a knife can be used to harm people and can still be used to do business and feed your family or even be used in theater (surgical knives) for operations. It's the same pattern with deepfake technology.
The danger lies in people's intention and not just the invention.

What keeps me wondering is how people will choose to use things in the negative. I have been deceived severally by the AI generated contents but thank God I didn't fall so hard.

Deepfake has its good features it's true we can't control what is done using deep fake , the part of helping people reconnect with their loved ones who have departed by hearing their voice is truly amazing and heart warming.🧡
