Really, I have not had too many traffic encounter but whenever I remember the last traffic experience I had sometime last year while traveling to the east for the Christmas holiday, I just thank God traffic is not a norm for me like those that live in Lagos. This one time traffic I had at that time disoriented my body not to talk of when I have to deal with it on a daily basis.. I will just run mad😩
Like how do human beings like me who live in Lagos survive self? I don't even dream to live in Lagos cus I know I can't deal with the way of life there.
But despite my fear of being a Lagosian, I've had my own share of traffic experience.. Like I said earlier, this happened while traveling from the west to the east for the Christmas holiday.
I booked a bus with a known transport company coming from Lagos Which would take me to the final bustop in the East which happens to be in Aba.. This was the right thing to do because normally, we do not have a park where I can board a bus to the east here in Ogun State.. So to avoid travelling with unknown transport companies, I booked online for a spot with a known registered transport company coming from lagos.
I booked with the first bus which was supposed to leave the park in Lagos by 7am.. Normally, they would have to get to the place where they would pick me up by 8am or latest 8:30am but unfortunately, I stood there for more than 3 hours because there was definitely a traffic from Lagos due to the busy roads filled with people travelling from place to the other for the season celebration.
After waiting for a long time, the bus finally arrived and I hopped in.. We kicked off around some minutes past 11am.
I had it all figured out that I was going to get to the East at most by 8pm since it was a 12 hours journey but the whole traffic trouble made it impossible.
The journey was going on smoothly until we got to somewhere in Ijebu Ode and we noticed a long traffic ahead of us. I saw it as a normal thing that won't last long but the reverse was the case. When we couldn't cover a reasonable distance for more than two hours, it was then it dawned on me that we've been stuck in an unending traffic. It changed everybody's mood in the bus. Almost everyone was hissing all at the same time.. These were passengers that were all chatting heartily with each other and all of a sudden the hearty conversation now changed to long sighs and hisses 😅
Stuck in traffic for almost 3 hours and counting.. It wasn't funny at all!
The most annoying thing was there was actually no vivid reason for the traffic.. Let's say a trailer fell and blocked the road or something.. The buses and cars on the road weren't just moving for unseen reasons..
The worms in my stomach had already started feeding on my stomach walls because i didn't have breakfast that morning since I left my house so early.. All my hope was that when I get to a place called Ore that I would get something to eat.. But we were no where close😩
I never had plans to get any sort of soft drink and snack but I just had to take care of stomach at that time. We finally got pass the traffic and got to Ore around 3:30pm where I got some fresh banana and groundnut.. I enjoy eating them a lot while traveling..
And after everyone was refreshed we continued our journey and that was how we got stucked on another traffic an hour laterin Edo state😩
This time, the traffic happened in a said danger zone where passengers could get robbed.. I was terrified.
Could there be a robbery going on ahead of my own bus.. Why the traffic? I thought
Some passengers pleaded with the driver to come out to stretch their legs and ease off but the driver refused while sounding it to our ears that it was a dangerous zone.. We were there till some minutes past 7:00pm when we got pass the traffic with the help of some noble youths from that area..
I was nowhere close to the East around 8:00pm.. It was really a horrible journey. Long story short, we got to Onitsha bridge and the traffic there was something else too, I was already exhausted and feeling nauseous. We got to a park in Anambra State around 12am and we had to stop there to continue our journey the following day cus it was already very late. Luckily for me, I reached a friend who lives close to the park to come pick up so I could sleep at her place.. I know, I couldn't meet but I'm glad the traffic didn't cause something terrible that very day..
The following day we had to leave so early before 7:00am so we could beat the traffic and we finally arrived Aba around 11am..It was my first time having such a stressful journey and I never wish for it ever again cus it had no positive impact on me but disoriented my body.😩

No one would ever expect a traffic to last long than that but that is the situation many of us eventually find ourselves in, and we have no choice than to accept when it happens.
My dear! For a day and half actually..

Having to pause journeys can be so frustrating, but what can we do about it? It can't be helped because traffic is not something that can easily be avoided.
