A Glimpse into the Future: 2050 and Beyond

The same way today’s generation refers to some people from the olden days as people of the Stone Age, in a few years time,our generation will also be the Stone Age of technology. Gone were the days when we had keypad phones only , but today, we have all sorts of smart phone’s with different styles and designs and this is what I call evolution.

With time, human beings are going to evolve and so much is going to change. If you should go into a coma now and wake up in a few years time, trust me, you would be literally lost because a lot would have changed them. When I saw the number 2050, I instantly thought we’d all probably be dead by then but when I calculated it, I realized we most definitely might be alive at that time. Just that, our kids might be calling us old men and women who don’t know what’s up . That’s for you guys though, I’ll still be that mom or aunty that knows what’s up.

You know how we always talk about flying cars and all of that, I think we are getting there sooner than we realize. But for my part of the world, they will get to experience it after the whole show is over because we have a lot of catching up to do. Technology is developing at the speed of light but I’m still in awe about so many happenings in my part of the world. Imagine a lecturer coming to class with so many books just to teach when you can just prepare lecture slides to project for your students, thereby making everything easier for all parties involved. Interestingly, the world is going to move on regardless of who has some catching up to do or not. Personally, I’m seeing a future where everything will be automated. You wouldn’t even need waitresses and all of that because you’ve got robots to do that for you. I don’t even think we’d have something called traffic anymore but I know Lagos traffic will need more miracles than just this.😂

With the rate at which people are investing in technology and the vision these investors have, I’d say things are going to happen very fast and if you’re not careful, you’d be left behind. One mistake most make is that they fail to adapt to changes in order to be useful. They just want to stick to that one thing they know and trust me, these same people will come back to tell you that robots have taken over their jobs when they are to blame for their current situation.

By 2050, I believe the mindset of people then would have changed drastically. We’d have moved from one point to another in so many ways. I don’t think we’d be thinking about how to study and pass just to get that degree. We’d be aiming to solve real life problems with what we have studied and know ,instead of just passing that exam. We’d be looking to use technology to achieve better results in various aspects of life. I believe we wouldn’t have issues of cancer or even droughts as all of that would be catered for in one way or the other.

By 2050, I see the world growing so much such that everyone would need to be up and working. The world wouldn’t be kind to the lazy because there would be so much to do . But, to everything, there’s both an advantage and disadvantage. In as much as I believe the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages, we still have to make sure we are not at a disadvantage in all our doings when the time comes.
