Contentment is what everyone needs

I believe one virtue everyone must have is CONTENTMENT, been satisfy with what you have is very essential in life. Contentment is the state or degree of being happy and contented in one's situation. It's a very important virtue one must possess when dealing with others either at work or within the family.

But in the world today, the opposite is the order of the day, people aren't contented with what they have again, Covetousness has taking over the heart of both young and old. People now have immoderate desire for almost everything most especially wealth.

Everyone now covet over others possessions because they want to be the talk of the town and live in luxuries, no one want to work hard again but want sudden wealth. Some prefer to borrow and be a slave of debt than make judicious use of their limited resources for what is capable of given them.

That's why in the world today you will see a teenager coveting over what a working class adult has without thinking of the years it took the adult to acquire such possessions. And if such a teenager isn't cautioned on the eagerness for wealth, then he or she might end up on the wrong side of life. Lack of contentment has made the world so chaotic that's why people nowadays prefer to keep to themselves when they achieve success in their businesses or career because they don't know who is happy about their achievement.

There are lot of ridiculous things I hear or read on social medias this days that people do just because they aren't satisfy with what they have or earn. People now go into internet fraud in quest for wealth, do different surgeries just to look like their favorite celebrities all because "they aren't satisfied in how they look naturally" or change their genders just because they felt their gender doesn't fit them.

Some go to the extent of prostituting their body in exchange for money or positions while some kill their business partners, spouses or family members because of money. In short, Covetousness has lead lots of people both young and old to their early grave while those that are lucky to be alive are rendered useless with one health conditions or the other.

Life is nothing without contentment, we live better with others when we have satisfaction and being at peace in one's situation without having immoderate desires over what others have. In the journey of life, there will surely be some people that are ahead of you, same level with you and those behind you, so why aiming eagerly for what you don't have now?

To me, Contentment is an essential virtue that everyone must have because without it one will just be the slave of the world. But when you are contented:

• You won't have a bias mind when others are excelling but you will have a gladdening mind because you are hopeful that yours is right on the way
• You won't be enticed with anything in this world come what may
• You will be at peace and be rest assured that tomorrow will be alright

So in conclusion, it is very important to be contented with what you have presently and think of how to make the best use of your limited resource for that little things that you can afford. A Yoruba(my native language) adage says "Itelorun ni baba iwa" meaning "Contentment is the father of all behaviors".
