The Buzzing Phone & Family Bonding - A Connection Saga

in Hive Learners8 months ago

Undoubtedly, our phones are important to us but our family are more important. While our phones can do a lot of things for us, it can not give us a family, they will always be one of a kind for us. So do we make our family be in an invisible competition with our phones?

The time we spend with family can vary in every family, some find it annoying because the members use that as a chance to cause more problems and for some, it is a time they bond happily and things take off even better for them.

If I must share about our phones being used during family time, I'll love to point out a fact... Would anyone want to use their phone during family time if there was a rule on ground against it? What if using the phone is an escape from the troubles family time brings?

For the rules, I've been in a home where they had the rule active and it worked on everyone for sometime but gradually, even the rule maker began to break it without realising and so, we just kept using our phones whenever. It's funny how I even got the habit of using my phone while I eat so I could eat a lot, what a bad habit that was!

Today, we see a family where even the youngest have a capable phone to do a lot of things. I feel this is what gives access to children to grow the habit of using their phones whenever although there can be created limitations to help curb the use during family time.

Well, I wasn't opportune to learn not to use my phone during family time except when we have serious matters to discuss and we didn't see any problem with it. Although I could feel it weakening our family bond but not one to be worried about as we are all finding ways to be together while we are at it.

Why do I say this? It's a bit sad but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy the time spent with my family. I only wish it was much better.

Look at this picture, would any member of the family in this mood want to find their phone except they get a call which could also be ignored because the fun is there and they are appreciating the presence of each other. A family time should be one anyone should have no excuse to avoid.

I know of a family that their family time is their quarrel time, there is never a quiet time when they are complete in the house except they are all busy on their phones or personal businesses and work. Would I say they don't love each other or don't appreciate each other? No but they could do better if they want to.

Family time should be made memorable for everyone, so they won't have time for their phones. This is hard to accomplish when there is too much to worry about but if it succeeds, it helps relieves the worries and the bond will grow stronger.

I doubt I'll have a strong rule against the use of phone during family time, I just need to make my family time one that they will have no time for their phones except on very important things at a particular point in time.

Hi, it's interesting what you mention at the beginning that the cell phone can be a way to distract from problems.

I believe that the phone should not be forbidden, but we should also respect family gatherings and not use it excessively when we share with our family. Greetings.

Forbidding the use of phone is to the extreme but the excessive use of it should be kept in check as you've said. Greetings to you too

I literally agree to the fact that you said that phone can be a way of distracting one from think about one's problem.

It has really help distract lot's of people from thinking about there problems so it's a really valid point that I agree with.

But nevertheless, we should never put our phone above our family no matter the condition. It's always family first regardless.

Thank you for sharing out this amazing post.

well for some people family time is as important as their jobs, I get that some people need to escape the troublesome nature of their families at times hence resorting to the use of mobile phones even when it's family time.

I think most people encounter this kind of problem in a big family setting like the extended family system. I for one have been under such a rule where we were banned from using our phones at the dining table, it was implemented perfectly cause the one who implemented will give you a sound warning if she saw you with your phone. The rule can actually work, it's just a matter of priorities to me.

You shared picture shows how family time should be and I also appreciate it but in most of the family they can create such kinds of moments sometimes only and it's not enough to build a strong bond between family members. At least at dinner time, everyone should stop using the mobile phone. We are using smartphones all day and that is enough to reduce the intersection between family members. Whatever, it depends on the individual.

Using phones during family time is not bad but the excessive use of it.
It depends on the kind of gathering, there are some gathering that one would definitely need phones and sometimes no need at all.
There's time for everything.

Great point, nothing should take the place of family, at the same time no hard rules if a need for it arises to quickly use a phone.Well done

It is quite alarming actually the rate at which people are actually so glued with their phones most especially even families

It's alarming indeed, God help us.
