From Fails To A Life-Changing Skill: My Biggest Risk

in Hive Learners2 days ago (edited)

2025 taught me one thing... "Playing safe doesn't always lead to growth". The biggest risk I took that year forced me out of my comfort zone and into unfamiliar territory. It challenged me, stretched me, and changed me in ways I didn’t expect. There were many risks I took especially financial risk to earn more that didn't end so well.

I remember two times, I gave out a 100 dollar for an investment and both flopped, lost my money. I also paid for a skill that ended up to be one I couldn't keep up with because the person did a bad job at teaching the skill after taking the money. I also risked powering down a lot of my Hive for reasons that didn't later work out for me.

But thankfully, all those only taught me lessons that I appreciate I learned. Because there is even a bigger risk I took in 2025 that has been a game changer for me since I took it... The positive risk, I'd say. The one risk I'd definitely take again if I should find myself in that situation again. Paying to learn a skill I knew nothing about was a risk.

It was a risk because at the time, all I could think of was how I'd be able to keep up with it if it did turn out that the trainer will do a good job this time, I barely had time. Also considering the fact that I had paid for a skill before that didn't work out well, there was a good enough reason not to pay and even pay higher for another skill but I did.

The biggest risk wasn't in learning the skill, the biggest risk came when I actually set up a pace for myself to work with so I could utilize the skill I've learned. It's a skill that requires all the things I've not done so easily before, except for the part that it required using tech which I love to explore. I had to risk pushing myself over my own fears.

It wasn't easy for me because I actually went on a long procrastination break after learning the skill for fear of starting and giving up in a short while, I didn't want that, I needed to prove to myself that I could do anything if I put my mind to it. Thankfully, I started and like I said, it has been a game changer as I found myself growing in it.

If someone had told me earlier in 2025 that I would push through learning a skill in the way that I did, making time every week and then every day for another session, I wouldn't have believed I could. It was an intense period for me but I kept moving on to gain the risk taken, learning more into the skill one task at a time. It changed me.

That one decision have led me this far and I'm having clearer goals for the new year 2026, I've learned better that I can't achieve anything from my comfort zone. It's not going to be a smooth ride but it is what makes me know that I'm no longer in my comfort zone and I have the biggest risk I took to thank for that. It was totally worth it.

I believe that the positive risk is worth it because that is what we need to do in today's world. We need to learn more skills especially online so that we can survive the heat.
Thanks for sharing

Very important! Thanks for stopping by.

The risks you took, especially in learning a skill that was outside your comfort zone, show that growth comes from learning from failures.
Totally agree with the line

That's true!
I'm appreciating that decision over and over.

Not taking risk in itself is a big risk. I love that you step out of your comfort zone to add more knowledge. I do wish you more accomplishment this new year.

Thank you, I hope to grow the skill.

That's my prayer too.

Taking risks to learn skills is a very worthy risk in my books, skills are monetizable and stay with us forever once mastered.

Happy New Year, have a wonderful year with good surprises :)

This sounds really really good because having a skill in today world is more than worth it. I’m so glad you pushed yourself to learn a skill which will soon pay off.

Greater heights this year.
