I was just about 12 when I first experienced in real time the evolution of organisms to fight and overcome threats to their existence. On that day, I lighted what we call mosquito coil, a solid insecticide made specifically to kill mosquitoes, and went to bed around 10:30 pm knowing fully well that my night won't be interrupted by mosquitoes. At about 4:22 am, annoying sounds in my ears woke me. And then, I felt my body itching me.
When I turned on the light, my room was like a feasting site for mosquitoes. Each mosquito kill led to a smattering of thick, black blood on the surface. Definitely, those mosquitoes had a fulfilling night and they are filled with my blood. I checked where I placed the mosquito coils and found it completely used up. So, why are there still mosquitoes in my room? Is the mosquito coil no longer strong enough for them, or did I buy an adulterated one?
Humans are unbelievably complex and flawed creation. The way we live our lives can be very haphazard and clumsy. However, amidst the chaos and madness of everyday living lies a very simple, straightforward way in which we imbibe/assimilate and then transmit those things we've stored. In short, our life is a microcosm of the chaos around us. The way we choose to live it is a reflection of what we've picked up along the way. either good or bad.
Now, one of the most important ways we project ourselves to the world is through our looks and the way we dress. And in a world where freedom of everything is trending, a lot of craziness in the name of fashion and lifestyle is happening with it. Few years ago a massive protest hit the streets in my neighborhood. The state was battling with insecurity at that time and a lot of it was linked with guys involved in cultism.
To arrest the challenge, a tough group of officers in the police force was handpicked to join the newly formed "anti-cult" sect. They had their orders and were given license to bust possible hideouts of the criminals with full force. After a few months with sect, the level of insecurity remains the same. They were being outsmarted by the criminals. That was when they were given a new order: arrest anyone dressed up or looking like a tout.
In like manner, we also have clubs that are built on ethics, pattern of play, and prestige. That doesn't mean these clubs are not after profit afterall they need to turn in profit to continue to operate effectively, but they've struck a balance and created a model whereby they turn in regular profits while maintaining the ethical practices that has won them respect ad admiration. A typical example of such a football club is Barcelona FC. With a pattern of play that is pleasing to the eyes and the strong ties to their famed academy La Masia, Barcelona FC has successfully merged ethics and profits, despite their financial struggles in recent years.
