The New Year is just a few hours away, which implies that the holiday is almost over. This year's festivities are low-key for my family and me. I mentioned it in a post recently that I only get busy during this period if I travel home to join my mom and other family members to celebrate the moment. But this year, I am with my wife and son in Kaduna. This somehow makes the holiday like routine holidays that I have observed over the years.
2024 has been a very busy year for me. Navigating between work, studies, and family life comes with a lot of energy. I live this kind of triangular lifestyle throughout this year. I hardly have time for myself. Either I am attending to an office call or studying for my educational pursuits. This holiday hasn't really been a period of absolute holiday for me in the real sense of it. However, the two things that I achieve during this holiday, which I am sure will propel me to begin 2025 with full energy, are having enough time to sleep during the day in addition to normal bedtime and bonding with my young family more.
In the last week, I have not been rushing to wake up to prepare for work. I wake up to be with my family and have breakfast together. The experience has been fascinating. If for nothing else, I wish that the holiday didn't come to an end because of this. That's a tall wish anyway. I have no option but to prepare for my endeavors as we enter the new year. The bills are there to be paid. Nothing gives a man joy better than being able to take charge of his family responsibilities. I have to get ready for the task ahead.
Having a better 2025 is the goal. I will remain at home till the 6th of January before traveling to Jos for the continuation of my lectures. We are at the peak of the second and final semester of my program. My plan is to begin the bench work for my research as I attend classes. I will return back to Kaduna on the 12th so that I can resume my work by the 13th of January. It is important that I attend the resumption meeting of my office. That is when the agenda for the new year is set and endorsed by the members of staff.
After spending the first week at work, I will be back to Jos the following week for my lectures. My traveling to Jos from Kaduna will become a fortnight venture.
For now I am strategizing on how to have a unique experience in 2025. It's a year that I envisage having many things in my hands. These engagements require money for smooth sailing. I need to work more and make money to make the year fulfilling.
For the next five days, I will keep up with my holiday routine of the last few days: waking up to eat, sleep, and attend to some online activities regarding blogging and my research. The memories of this holiday will remain with me till we talk of another moment like this next year. May we be alive to witness many more years.
What exactly is going on? In every post I have read concerning this subject everyone seems to be resuming back to their routine by January 6th, I'm still complaining that I had a short holiday but it seems it is a general phenomenon. What happened to those days we used to enjoy festive period till almost third week of January?
