So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week which is “UNEXPECTED PLACES AND PEOPLE”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA LIFE”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community sharing with us their opinions on individuals having to share their social media handles with their employers. For some, it’s seen as an invasion of privacy while for others it’s simply something that companies have to do to protect their image.
We got to see the different ways social media could make or mar people, and if not handled properly, it could make matters worse long before making them better. In the end, employers will have to do what works best for themselves.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w149e1 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. For this author, she’s of the opinion that one needs to detach oneself from the need to post too much about oneself online. This is because if this is allowed to go on unabated, it will only be a matter of time before they post something that may come back to haunt them. When everyone is being careful with what they post, when a boss or a client stumbles upon their handle, they won’t find anything incriminating.
