Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you are having a great time. This will be Week 138, Edition 01 of our Weekly Featured Content.
So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week which is “AN IDLE MIND”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “IS IT JUSTIFIED?”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their opinion of if sacrificing the lives of a few people to save millions is justified. Getting to make that decision, while being noble, is not something that will sit right with everyone. Getting to decide who lives and who dies shouldn’t be on the shoulders of just one person.
We got to see how many of us would react to such a responsibility. Knowing that the fate of a few lay in their hands. Killing them for a brighter future that will be enjoyed by millions. It’s not an easy choice, and the reason is not farfetched.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w137e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.
Featured Contents
THANOS: CAN GENOCIDE OR EUTHANASIS BE A SOLUTION? by @depressedfuckup
This author told us that no one should have to decide to take the lives of others, regardless of the reason behind it. Playing God with the lives of people, even though it’s for the greater good is just not acceptable. In the end, this might only end up creating more problems than solving. Everyone deserves a chance at life.
WHO LIVES, WHO DIES? by @michupa
For this author, this is a delicate matter and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly in any way. It’s not a decision he would ever make if he were in such a position. Everyone would suffer together than choose to succeed at the cost of the lives of a few people. He just won’t be able to live with himself if he ended up condemning some people to their deaths, even though it was for the greater good.
HARD DECISIONS AND SACRIFICES @xlety
For this author, the idea of having to sacrifice a few to save the many is a dangerous stance and even more so because it suggests that the power will be concentrated in the grasp of a few who get to decide who dies and who live. There must be respect for every individual and that also includes choosing that everyone lives regardless of what may come next.
All of the above contents were supported by our official curation account lazy-panda with an extra amount. The first 3 authors will receive 100 ECENCY Points [ Sponsored By Ecency Team (@melinda010100) ] and 1 $PANDAMINER each as a reward next Monday. These posts were selected because of their special attention to detail and how they followed the topic. There were a lot of good ones out there, but we just could not pick them all.
But then, we have some honorable mentions which are listed below:
Honorable Mention
WHEN SITUATIONS DEMAND SACRIFICE: REFLECTIONS ON TOUGH CHOICES by @bhattg
CHOOSING WHO TO SAVE IS CHALLENGING by @gwajnberg
THE GREATER GOOD: A CONCEPT OF HEROISM, SELFLESSNESS AND MEDIOCRE by @emrysjobber
These are posts that were also found to be quite exceptional as well
AND NOW, WE MOVE ON TO THE NEW TOPIC!
