Technology as we know is advancing by the day, there was a time when horses were used as means of transportation, but later on humans started making machines that could do the work we imposed on Camels and horses. As time went on, it was no longer animals competing with machines as means of transportation but machines competing with machines through the new inventions that were produced almost every day. Now we have self-driving cars that would not require much work and would also render those who drive for a living out of their jobs. I mean who would want to even learn how to drive when the car can just drive itself.
When self-driving cars become rampant, especially the ones that would not require gas, that's when I would be getting myself one of those. Although self driving cars would be really great to get, but then, I would need to consider certain things before deciding to purchase it if I should have the money. The first thing I would consider is were I live. My current location would not have a parking space and although the road is good, I will need to have a parking space in my house before I can purchase a car. Another thing I will consider very important is whether or not the car uses gas. If it uses gas I am definitely not purchasing it even though I have the widest parking space in the world.
The price of gas in my country is currently very high, and with the way things look it would get even worse. I would prefer a self driving car that uses solar as source of power, or one that uses a battery to recharge. In my country it is wise to do everything within your power to save cost and at the same time save energy. If I buy a car with the way the current economy is, I would be buying a liability which in a long run would be very bad. Then talk about roads, where will I be driving such a car lol. To be honest the roads in my city are fairly good but what if I wanted to go outside my city or outside the state hehe… I can only imagine how the AI would complain through out the journey 😂.
If an accident should happen in a self driving car I definitely can not be blamed because I wasn't driving, however it would simply mean there was either something wrong with the settings or it's a manufacturing issue. Either way I'm taking that car back to the manufacturer to explain how on earth such a thing should happen. AI’s are programmed to function in the way the manufacturer has set them, that is why the manufacturer would be in the best position to fix whatever the issue might be. Overall I think self-driving cars would be awesome to acquire, I only pity drivers because people like me would not have an excuse to not buy a car.

I couldn't stop laughing when I read this part, the fact that you are not the one driving the car doesn't mean you won't be held responsible for whatever issue caused by your AI driver because you need to consider the fact that the AI is driving on your behalf.
Moreover there are other things that could make a self driving car get involved in accidents apart from programming error. For instance a self driving car is programmed to obey specific traffic regulations and sadly such rules are less potent in Nigeria. Imagine a self driving car obeying traffic rules and suddenly got hit from behind by another car that refused to obey the traffic rules, you can't really consider that a programming error.
Yes it's not a programming fault, but it's also not my fault. the person that refused to follow the rules will have to pay for damages
