When I saw this prompt, I laughed so hard. Will it actually be possible for a family to have just one car? For some families a car is a luxury, while for another family it is a necessity.
Firstly, most families get cars to be able to carry out some tasks for them, like taking their 5 children to school and back.
For some families, they prefer taking their children to school by themselves instead of using the school bus.
What happens when that car breaks down and there is no other means? Some use it to run errands, and some for business, like Uber drivers.
What happens when the only thing that puts food on their table breaks down and there is no other means? For me, having cars has several reasons for acquiring them. Some might have it for luxury or to show off, but it always serves a purpose.
Have you ever been stuck in a heavy rainfall? Right there, standing in the shade, waiting for the rain to stop, and it never stops. That's when you wish you had a car.Furthermore, let's look at car maintenance.
I can tell you repairing a car can take days to weeks depending on the magnitude of the damage. What happens then when you don't have a spare car that can serve the same purpose?
Secondly, inadequate accessibility. There are places public transportation can't access, especially rural areas and some villages, and the only means is just private vehicles.
It will inconvenience some families if the only car they have is in bad shape.
Thirdly, in situations where both parents have different working locations, whereby the husband is working in a separate location from the wife.
It will be a form of inconvenience for them both to get to work. How about during emergency situations when a family member has to get to the hospital, there is no available transport at the moment, and the only car available is already in use?
What happens in that situation? The family might even lose his/her life before she is even taken to the hospital. For a common instant, a woman in labor that needs to get to the hospital in time to have her baby.
What do you think will happen when there is no available means to get her there? Probably the car is at the mechanic's or has been taken away by another family member.
Fourthly, it increases stress; sharing a car increases stress, especially when partners have different schedules in a day. Probably going for a meeting and after that have to wait for her partner to pick her up.
If there is no one buying cars, it will have much effect on the automobile company.
Not everyone can afford to own a car, but those that can afford it are just constrained to have one; it will have a negative effect, not just on the company but on the economy and including workers.
There will be a reduction of workers and loss of jobs too.In conclusion, owning just one car will make life more harder than easier.
It is very hard to have a car in the family, there are times when the car will not be available and this may cause havoc, if there is money then I can suggest two cars but in a situation that there is no money then we can manage one car in a family.
An average person can manage one car, they treasure the car so much because they know if it goes bad, they have to go through the stress of transportation or even treaking.
I'm telling you, some people can manage but not everyone can do the same
In the city where I'm based, there are several places public transport vehicles can't access, in cases like that you'd be forced to walk. Even if you are going to a far distance,
Depending on one car isn't easy, in cases of fault, the family will be stranded. I'm also at the positive end that such a law shouldn't be enacted on families.
Even me too, I have been to a place where I have to trek a distance because public transport can't access the area.
