In an utopic world, AI will replace obsolete jobs, population will decrease and a universal income gives people the chance to live decently even when not working, or working much less than now, thanks to a correct distribution of welfare.
And who wants to study something will do it because they like it and not just for work purposes.
But this is never going to happen, right? Big tech corps and government will use AI to make more money, laying off workers who are going to starve to death and kill themselves while the richest become more rich, until a revolution will burn everything to the ground and we all go back to a pre-industrial society. Not soon though
I agree with you, corporations will only always seek their profit, so it is better to forget about dreaming that things will go well. Those in power are not going to abandon it, but rather they are going to perpetuate continuing in it.
