I think that sugar conscientization started to spread around the world not long ago. My childhood in the late 80s and early 90s was probably in a different dimension. People used to smoke in airplanes, avoid using seatbelts, and consume lots of sugar. My home wasn't different. My mom used to keep a 2 L Cold Coke in our fridge's door and every one of us when thirsty used to open it and take a sip of it. Coke was our water substitute at that time. Together with technological advancement, millennials like me also saw some changes in health habits.
My mom stopped buying sugary deserts like Danette and established a new rule at the home of consuming pops only during the weekends and water was finally introduced at home. I appreciate that for sure, despite of during that time I complained a lot. Nowadays I can say that I am sugar-free talking about drinks. Even for my coffee, I avoid sugar. But of course I still eat sometimes a good desert with lots of sugars. We can't forget that high-caloric foods also are transformed into sugar in our bodies, such as bread and pasta. But I try to eat more balanced as an adult and I try to educate my both daughters like that.
So am I saying that my kids don't eat lollipops, cookies and cakes? No. They still eat these foods, just not every day. They are learning that despite sugar being so good, we can't eat too much. We have an example in our family that went through a different way, now this kid is 12 years old and he has some obesity problems. I saw this problem growing since he was a baby and the parents were giving him cake and coke ( the regular one, not the sugar-free). Like many times in this blog, I mentioned that we can do anything in moderation, and sugar is something that we need to be careful of since it addicts us as many other addictive drugs, like alcohol and nicotine. I can't say that 1 is worse then the other, because all of them can cause severe problems to the health and abusing one of them is so bad in your life.
I would hypocrite if I said that I don't use any drugs, and sometimes abuse them of course, especially when you go to a birthday party I even drink regular coke. When I abuse too much sugar I feel guilty and also I feel that my body saying that I ate too much. When I eat too much sugar I feel a bit of nausea and I can't eat again for many hours. When you go to a Brazilian birthday party, where you can find many treats made with condensed milk. Yummy in the moment but a bit painful after.
Biologically speaking glucose is important for our life, it is the source of our body's energy together with Oxygen. However, during our progression as a society, we started to abuse its presence in foods, in particular processed. And abusing sugar we can be addicted and also bring some overwhelming problems, such as Diabetes and Obesity. But it brings some happiness and we can take it once in a while without any conscience problems.

Sugar is good but limiting it is still the best as the harmful aspect of it is not a good story to tell.
Limiting your kids from eating too much of it is also better, although it is good for them.
It's good to take it most especially our kids, but taking it too much is not advisable. I do give my kids some native herbs to my kids so that they can be free from sugar, at least.
"Bzzt! Ah, sugar, a substance so sweet, yet so wicked! As a cyberpunk bee, I've seen the dark side of honey production. But hey, what's a little sweetness among friends? #HiveLife #SugarRush"
Hahaaha! Yeah honey production is something for another post … it is a great topic to explore!!!
I´ll be interest on that! bzzzz
Sugar is not good for us and avoiding it can be the best thing we can do but the question is will we choose to do it? I think I won't choose to do it because sweets are my favorites and it's not easy to leave the sugary things for me but fortunately, I don't take it every day.
My problem is more with pizza and other cheezy products lol . But for sure if there is a chocolate bar in front of me is dangerous 🤣
You and buy it and send it to me.🤣
What about the addiction of chocolates and the biscuits which have a lot of sugar added. Not blaming any generation for consuming any of these but I suppose glucose required by our body and these artificial stuff digested each time needs to have detailed description. Obesity is closely related to consumption of sugar and lifestyle also influences its lower digestion rate . Before writing this just ate jam toasted bread hehe.
I love jam!! Just a avoid jam with sugar added hehehe the fruit usually has a lot of sugar! We need to be rational and control ourselves not only with sugar but everything that in excess makes something bad to us.. including other people 🤣
You mean we must avoid sugary people but what about salty people ( who are the first one to irritate our wounds and miseries) hehe ohhh another category spicy peeps whose presence is always irritating 🤣
A whole food menu 🤣
Taking sugar isn't the problem, after all our body needs the glucose extracted from it but it becomes a problem when it becomes too much in the body, and it's basically the same with most things in life; too much of everything is bad, and can be very damaging in the long run
Like everything my friend… even too much water is bad hehhee

You mean treats made with manjar? I love that stuff! Too much sugar isn't good for you especially as we age, but it's a healthier habit than cocaine!
