Being Isaac Asimov for one day: My views from the future.

  Science fiction is one of my favorite genres in Books and Movies. Why? Because it gives me a perspective of imagining something that can turn true in the future, different from the regular fantasy with dragons and wizards. One of my favorite book authors is Isaac Asimov. He wrote many theories about how computers would be used in 40-50 years when he wrote his books in the 80s. Some of the predictions are coming true such as the high usage of computers in education, especially in home schooling. Remember that in the 80s the internet had just been invented and most people weren't using it, and if using it, it wasn't like we use it today. As a fan of the genre, what are my predictions for the next 25 years?

  Probably my guess will be based on promises that look tangible nowadays, for example, I won't list the first intelligent alien contact since for now we don't have any evidence of that. Maybe the first proof of life outside could happen, but I will start with the biggest potential of advances in technology such as Artificial intelligence. This technology arrived and is evolving every year more and more. Currently, we have computers capable of making decisions and copying reality but still not with a broad usage like we wanted. So I expect sure in the next 25 years some of the current AI technologies to be more advanced, such as fully automated cars. For sure AI would be more present in other areas and also substitute the human workforce more and more, which in my point of view is a bad outcome.

  Another big and exciting technology conquering is our foot in stepping on Mars. Once in a while, we get amazed by the beautiful pictures that the robot that is already in there sends us. It feels that soon humans are going to be able to do that. NASA already predicted that 2035 will be the year of the first tripulated spaceship with this destination, I can foresee a delay but for sure up to 2050 someone will step foot in there. And probably the first fixed human colony in there with water extraction? We know that water is found there mostly in frozen states so why not?

  My third prediction is in the economy. In the last few years technology has shown to be a great ally of the economy, the cryptocurrency's advent came together with computational evolution and proved to be a great alternative to improve financial transactions. It isn't difficult to predict that a way before 2050 cryptocurrencies would be more used than today. One of these days I realized that one Brazilian service of international money transferring was using Ripple. So for sure, that type of thing would be more common. In addition, you can see that the traditional money and stocks are just going downhill and crypto will be something more in our day a day. Those who laugh in a conversation about the topic won't do that anymore in the next 10 to 20 years for sure.

  I wanted to be talking about teleportation and maybe how we are going to ally with a peaceful alien race. But I would be going too much forward and probably the chances are low to realize it. But despite of I am wrong or right about the predictions above, everything is possible for our species that uses intelligence to create new things, but as Isaac Asimov said, don't forget: "Intelligence is an accident of evolution, and not necessarily an advantage."

  Ficção científica é um dos meus gêneros favoritos em livros e filmes. Por quê? Porque me dá uma perspectiva de imaginar algo que pode se tornar realidade no futuro, diferente da fantasia regular com dragões e bruxos. Um dos meus autores de livros favoritos é Isaac Asimov. Ele escreveu muitas teorias sobre como os computadores seriam usados ​​em 40-50 anos quando escreveu seus livros nos anos 80. Algumas das previsões estão se tornando realidade, como o alto uso de computadores na educação, especialmente no ensino doméstico. Lembre-se de que nos anos 80 a internet tinha acabado de ser inventada e a maioria das pessoas não a usava, e se a usasse não é como a usamos hoje. Como fã do gênero, quais são minhas previsões para os próximos 25 anos?

  Provavelmente meu palpite será baseado em promessas que parecem tangíveis hoje em dia, por exemplo, não listarei o primeiro contato alienígena inteligente, pois por enquanto não temos nenhuma evidência disso. Talvez a primeira prova de vida lá fora possa acontecer, mas começarei com o maior potencial de avanços em tecnologia, como a Inteligência Artificial. Essa tecnologia chegou e está evoluindo a cada ano mais e mais. Atualmente, temos computadores capazes de tomar decisões e copiar a realidade, mas ainda não com um uso amplo como queríamos. Então espero que nos próximos 25 anos algumas das tecnologias de IA atuais sejam mais avançadas, como carros totalmente automatizados. Com certeza a IA estaria mais presente em outras áreas e também substituiria cada vez mais a força de trabalho humana, o que no meu ponto de vista é um resultado ruim.

  Outra grande e emocionante conquista tecnológica é nosso pé pisando em Marte. De vez em quando, ficamos impressionados com as belas imagens que o robô que já está lá dentro nos envia. Parece que em breve os humanos vão conseguir fazer isso. A NASA já previu que 2035 será o ano da primeira nave tripulada com esse destino, prevejo um atraso, mas com certeza até 2050 alguém pisará lá. E provavelmente a primeira colônia humana fixa lá dentro com extração de água? Sabemos que a água é encontrada lá principalmente em estados congelados, então por que não?

  Minha terceira previsão é na economia. Nos últimos anos a tecnologia tem se mostrado uma grande aliada da economia, o advento das criptomoedas veio junto com a evolução computacional e se mostrou uma ótima alternativa para melhorar as transações financeiras. Não é difícil prever que bem antes de 2050 as criptomoedas seriam mais utilizadas do que hoje. Um dia desses percebi que um serviço brasileiro de transferência internacional de dinheiro estava usando o Ripple. Então com certeza esse tipo de coisa seria mais comum. Além disso, você pode ver que o dinheiro tradicional e as ações estão indo ladeira abaixo e as criptomoedas serão algo mais no nosso dia a dia. Aqueles que riem em uma conversa sobre o tópico não farão mais isso nos próximos 10 a 20 anos, com certeza.

  Eu queria estar falando sobre teletransporte e talvez como vamos nos aliar a uma raça alienígena pacífica. Mas eu estaria indo muito longe e provavelmente as chances são baixas de concretizar isso. Mas independentemente de eu estar certo ou errado sobre as previsões acima, tudo é possível para nossa espécie que usa inteligência para criar coisas novas, mas como disse Isaac Asimov, não se esqueça: "Inteligência é um acidente da evolução, e não necessariamente uma vantagem."
