Choosing The Positive Aspects

We all want to watch videos, pictures and listen to audios without being scammed into believing something that is false. However in today's world, it is no longer easy. A lot of things we see online these days are false and fake. Some of them even appear more realistic than actual real videos.

The incidence of fake videos, pictures and audios has never been more rampant than it is today and this is all thanks to the recent advancements in technology especially Artificial intelligence.

Nowadays Deepfake technology is everywhere, it is so common that you have to be careful else you will believe and possibly circulate a fake video as if it were true not knowing that it is not.

I remember watching videos on Instagram or tiktok and suspect it is not real. Then I go to the comments section to find out that even though a few people suspected so like me, a good number of people have already swallowed it hook, line and sinker.
That is to show you how realistic some of these videos are.

Many people use this technology to push a narrative, start a problematic discourse or just to deceive the public for the fun of it. Whatever the reason, it is not a good idea.

I believe deepfake technology just like every other thing can be used to serve both positive and negative purposes. It is all about the intent of the creator.

One way I have seen the technology being used for good is in storytelling and recreation of ancient events.
Sometimes, a very old story is converted into a video for the younger generation to learn from. That way, the story is not entirely lost and visual elements are imputed.

It is also used to illustrate historic events like wars, that may be difficult or too expensive to illustrate with live action.

Deepfake can also be used in education to teach how to utilise Ai, how to differentiate between Ai and realtime acting.

It is important to not totally disregard this technology just because of the negative effects some have used it for. Rather, it should be welcomed but regulated in order to achieve as much good as possible.

In the meantime, it is pertinent that we all become more careful with what we see online because many are fake. Try to verify the authenticity of any media before sharing to avoid making a fool of yourself, or becoming a participant in distributing fake news and then loosing credibility.

Personally, I have not really looked into the deepfake technology so much but as times goes on, I will try to delve more into it and see how beneficial it can be so that I might use it for good reason too.
