Understanding the effects of abusing alcoholic drinks and hard drugs in our society

Hi everyone, it's good to be here this is my first content here on #hivelearners community, please be nice 🙂

Welcome to week 118:- Edition 01:-. Today I'll be writing on the topic given out to be discussed in the #hivelearners weekly featured edition content titled: "No More Alcohol". It's a pretty interesting topic to write about and I'll be speaking from the nutritional aspect of alcohol consumption.

*Are the damaging effects of alcoholic drinks any different from the damaging effects of hard drugs *

First of all, I'd like to establish the fact that alcoholic drinks and hard drugs follow the same path into the body system and they are metabolised in the same organ of the body which is the liver. Alcohol and drugs also interacts with the nutrients we get from good food and it reduces the usage of nutrients gotten from the food.

So, in as much as they might not have the same degree of intensity, they still have the same damaging effects although one might be faster in the damage that the other but it still boils down to the fact that excess consumption of both alcoholic drinks and hard drugs work towards the destruction of the liver.

It doesn't happen in a day so people might say they've been doing it for years and nothing has happened to them, but it's all a gradual process that will lead to the same end result.

So my answer to this is no, the damaging effects are not different from each other.

Is one a lesser evil than the other?

Well, now this question is tricky but like I said in the last question, the effects of one might take more time to manifest than the other but it doesn't make it less evil.

But I'd also consider the fact that hard drugs when smoked will not only damage the liver but the lungs as well...so this is quite more damaging. I mean, imagine loosing your lungs and liver 😯

The basically both have fatal effects on one's organs and body system so that should be considered as well.

If you had the power to make alcoholic drinks a banned commodity, just like drugs, do you think it'll make the community any better?

Hmm, this question will cause a lot of havoc and arguments among people.
The thing most people in the society do not understand is that they are abusing this substance, I believe in the saying that too much of everything is bad.

I think what most people need is an education on the effects of abusing alcoholic drinks and the other complications that can come from it and with that some people would adhere to instructions to reduce the intake of alcoholic drinks.

Some people see alcoholic drinks as a form of comfort when they're down or depressed so banning it will make them fall into things much more worse than alcohol so I think implementing strategies to educate the society will help them understand better what they're getting into.

Thank you all for taking your time out to go through my post and I hope it helps one or two people understand better about the intake of alcohol and drugs.

Our nutritionist, thanks for enlightening the difference between alcohol and hard drugs. At least, taking hard drugs a little frequent doesn't harm the body 🌚

It won't harm the body immediately but with time it will and trust me at that time it becomes worse...so it's best to be very careful
