3 MAJOR TRANSPORTATION ISSUES IN MY AREA AND THEIR RESPECTIVE SOLUTIONS 🚍🚖

Public transportation is a major part of everyday essentialities in my area of abode status notwithstanding i.e. students, workers etc. The public transportation system common in my area includes the motorcycle, tricycles, cars and buses. All these ease movements from one place to another an facilitates ease of doing business either directly or indirectly. It is good to note it here that the public transportation is a means of livelihood for many either privately owned or the government owned and is a major source of revenue. However, the public transportation in my area has faced some challenges and these includes the following and their respective solutions:

•Lack of good motorable/accesible roads
This is one of the major infrastructural challenge in my area as some of the roads are not motorable in need of repairs while some are filled with pot holes. Infact, some of them are termed as 'death traps' because of recurrent dangers they posed to many over time. This is a major task on the government to provide good and motorable roads to its citizens which i believe they must live up to that task. Some workers working in rural areas faces alot of challenge accessing such areas because of lack of motorable roads to such area which i believe needs urgent attention.

• High cost of transport fare
With the increase in pump price of the premium motor spirit (Petrol) as a result of subsidy removal which is the major source of energy been used by most of the public transport cars, buses, vehicles and all for them to work, there was an increase in cost of transportation which inflicts hardship on the citizens in my area. Many of the transporters and transport companies are complaining on the pump price increase, insufficient supply of the refined crude oil products, some hoarding the product and all. The government needs to look critically into this and make enough supply available by repairing the refineries and clamping down on saboteurs/hoarders.

• Poor state of the vehicles, cars, buses used for public transportation
This is one of the major challenge of public transportation in my area and even in many part of my country (Nigeria) because some of the public transports are old, off road and not well maintained. There are always complains bordering on poor seat, poor doors, leaking roofs and even overloading all making the public transportation a major challenge. I remembered a time i had to travel and it rained, the roof of the bus i took was leaking and it leaked on me heavily that day. The vehicle inspection officers (VIO) needs to do their job in honesty and in integrity rather than what is been seen around. Also, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) needs to ensure credibility before issuing driving licenses to drivers and also see to the condition of the public transport aswell.

Public transport is what is needed and used daily, therefore profit making at the expense of human life and safety should be be checked because humanity comes first. As we urge the government yo do its part, we citizens should also be found wanting creating bottle necks or misusing public transportation facilities e.g. blocking roads because of ceremonies, burning tyres on the road, need to queue been orderly while boarding a public transport as a good citizen rather than violent approach etc. Thank you for reading and comments/contributions are welcomed.
