The Sins of the Father: Should Children Bear the Burden?

in Hive Learners17 days ago

No one ever prayed for punishment, we know how it can be to be punished for what you know nothing about, all of us are still suffering the sin of Adam in the bible for people who believed in it, God cursed Adam and some of the curses are still what we are facing in the world today.

The punishment can extend to generations, even the unborn children can have a taste of it, punishment is never like the cake we eat and enjoy, punishment can be so brutal and unforgettable. The children are innocent then why do they want to feel the punishment they never deserve to be part of? Children need all the support and enjoyment, they never commit any crime so they do not deserve to be punished.

Punishing a child for what they know nothing about, is just purposely inflicting pain on them, let the finger that sin be cut off, and never involve those who are innocent, they know nothing about the sin of their father, it is never a law to punish children for the sins of their father but I guess it is happening in the world now.

There was a story I heard from my grandmother when she was alive, it happened in my village and I had to ask questions about it, there was this family that is a kingmaker in my village, In Yoruba land, a kingmaker (also known as "Afobaje") is a person who have the power and authority to select and install a new king.

Kingmakers in Yoruba land were usually high-ranking chiefs or elders who were responsible for identifying and choosing a suitable candidate for the throne. They would often consider factors such as the candidate's lineage, character, wisdom, and leadership abilities.

The kingmakers would then present their chosen candidate to the community, and after a series of rituals and ceremonies, the new king would be installed. The kingmakers played a crucial role in ensuring the continuity and stability of the kingdom.

The family who was the kingmaker in my village was dissolved totally even before I was born, the family and the generation to come can never be near such a position again, when I asked my grandmother she narrated the story of what happened and how their family was removed as the kingmaker when I heard the story, I know that their great grandfather was the one who sinned in that era because of his covetousness and he ruined the life of his children and the generation to come with what he did.

The whole family was punished including the innocent children with the unborn generation, I believe this should not have happened, the punishment should have been limited to the man who sinned and pardoned the innocent children, they know nothing about what their father did and this punishment shouldn't affect them.

Let those who sin be punished not extend it to someone innocent, I felt for this family because this is a huge position in Yoruba land, this position is more valued especially when a king is dead and they need replacement, people always come with a different gift to buy their way to the throne but if care is not taking and you have a greedy person as the kingmaker then he can choose a wrong candidate for the community and this can bring bad luck to the entire people of such village.

Punishing children for the crimes of their parents is not just or effective solution. Instead, we should focus on providing support and resources to help children overcome the challenges they face. By doing so, we can break the cycle of trauma and crime, and create a more just and compassionate society.

The children know nothing about the sins of their father so they should be excluded

I totally agree with you, punishment innocent child for what their parents did is totally unfair, why should they share the consequences for their parents action.
