Physical Appearance Vs Skills
Looks they say can be very deceptive, a cup can look very neat and beautiful on the outside but very dirty on the inside, in fact even have fungi sometimes.
It is not a lie that many organizations take appearance very seriously as a criteria to offer jobs. Even without testing one's intellectual ability, a careless appearance can ruin the opportunity for you.
Well, It is very nice to look good, I mean a good appearance adds beauty and more meaning to people but alone, it shouldn't be a basis to qualify people for opportunities. Clothes are just clothes; they can't add anything to what a person is capable of doing.
The psychology of considering people for an opportunity based on looks is biased, any one going by that method is prone to recruit only the smart dressers with empty heads.
Nevertheless, if both appearance and one's capabilities are considered then it would be perfect. We need to strike a balance.
Having the skill and not looking smart doesn't give one good meaning out there. I mean what does it cost to look good? I love seeing people dress smart. It attracts me to them.
Take for instance, someone comes to tell you about a big opportunity that he or she is already into and is making it in life through it. The person told you of how he or she travels from country to country and drives on expensive cars and has millions in his account.
Beautiful news right? Then suddenly, your eyes went down to his feet and you see him wearing bathroom slippers and a jean with a squeezed shirt, what will first come into your mind?
I believe you would doubt everything he said even if they were true. But imagine he dressed smart, even if he was lying, you might believe him or her.
It's not enough to have the skill, get the skill, be highly competent but also have a good appearance. People are mostly attracted to what they see rather than what is covered.
How beautiful will it be when what they see really defines what is covered. So in my opinion both appearance and skills are very important in recruiting workers.
It is just so unfortunate that some organizations only focus on the appearance aspect, especially if you speak English fluently, the deal is done. They will assume that since he or she dresses well and can speak English, what's left?
I have met people who speak English fluently but their Intelligent Quotient wasn't burning well. Inorder to get competent people to work for you, you need to strike a balance, checking both the skill aspect and the appearance aspect depending on what your job is.
This will save one from recruiting the wrong person. Appearances are wonderful but they can be misleading as well.
On the side of the applicants too, it will be wise to be equipped on both of these things. It doesn't even sound nice to appear for a job interview looking anyhow. How would you even feel? First impressions always matter, don't forget. Even if you have the skill, dress well, it will add more quality to your skill.
I won't lie to you, if I am to recruit people for a job today, whether you are the most talented person on earth and you don't appear nice, I don't think I'll pick you. I'll assume you are not serious, and don't have regard for what you are looking for. I rather go for someone who is average and looks smart, I Believe with time the person will grow.
I agree. Both has great consequences regarding work when you try to take one more important than the other. Appearance and skill are equally needed.
Gbam, you got it, having one without the other will still make things unbalanced
You are right, skills matters alot likewise looks. You give them a first impression you know what you are in for the way you look but what keeps you in that organization is skills.
Exactly ma, that's the point. Both the appearance and the skill are crucial
Striking a balance is the real deal so it's true
Exactly, without the balance, one side would be lacking
This is where the "you dress how you would like to be addressed" quote comes into play. However, organisations that hire people because of how good they dress could always run at a loss. Because I have observed that a majority of the 'smart/intelligent' people out there do not care about their looks. Nonetheless, that shouldn't be an excuse to look haggard during a job interview.
Intelligent people who are hungry don't need anyone to tell them they should look good when going for an interview. I mean, what does it even cost to look good?
Not so much actually.
The moment I saw the bathroom slippers I would just be confused as to what exactly is going on ?
Appearance is really so important. My mom used to say that if you dress anyhow and then there’s police mass arrest, the probability that they might arrest you is actually very high.

Hahahaha, I love the bathroom slippers thing o, it seems I'll start using that method.. maybe I'll get a crush🤣🤣
LoL, what Mommy said is correct, our dressing says a lot about us.
Thanks for reading, special aunt
Crush?🤣
Yes na🤣
Well said, we should dress the way we want to be addressed.
One might lose a job opportunity or any opportunity just because of how he or she is dressed. But hiring people just based on how they dress isn't the best.
There should always be a balance between both
#dreemport
That is right, our outfits matters so much. Let's give people good impressions about ourselves.
Yeah, hiring only on appearance is bad, atleast appearance and the knowledge should be combined
Paying attention to our physical appearance prior to going for an interview shouldn't be negotiated in the first place regardless of the role we are applying for. We shouldn't give people opportunity to look down on us and assume negatively of us..it shouldn't be luxury and can still be smart
#dreemerforlife
That's right ma, they say the way we dress is how we would be addressed.
The way you reply ur comments late this days eehh.... looks like you are highly engaged offline or something?
Maybe because you don't add photos on your dreemport submission, I was able to guess it was you from a glance 😅
