As it is the custom of many, the end of the year is not just a time to celebrate Christmas and new year, but to also reflect on their lives and to evaluate their performances.
Usually, people set goals at the beginning of the year and hope to achieve them before the year goes out. Those goals are not only there to be achieved and counted among our wins but to also serve as a guide and road map pointing the path for us to take.
For quite sometime now, I have been faithful with setting goals at the beginning of the year and to be frank, I have never regretted making that decision.
A friend of mine said he doesn't write down his goals because each time he does, things go against him and he ends up not achieving them.
Well, I used to experience that a lot of times too but I think the problem is not with settings goals, sometimes things just happen. Whether we set goals or not, there are things we won't achieve within a short period of time like we always wanted no matter the kind of effort we put in.
For goals like that, it takes patience and discipline to achieve. So I don't totally agree with him that if you set goals, you won't achieve them. Sometimes if you don't set goals, you may lack direction and focus.
Some time this year, i set a number of goals for my life and hive blockchain to be specific and I was very intentional about everything.
But along the line, I don't know what happened, I lost it all, at a point, I didn't even realize I had goals laid down for the year, I was just moving.
I have so many goals laid down this year that I was not able to achieve, in fact I am not sure I achieve upto 10% of my goals both offline and online.
For Hive blockchain, I wanted to build my Hive power to a reasonable amount, I planned to power up weekly and publish post daily but the opposite is what happened.
I wanted building my hive power to atleast 1000HP, that is accumulating atleast 500 more Hive power but seriously, I couldn't and I powered down.
It's not something I am proud of talking about but I believe that there is hope for the living. One day, I believe that I will look at my hive account and be proud of it.
With the way things are, I am not sure I can meet up with any of my goals for this year anymore.
But I am not taking defeat. I will keep trying, whether things go as planned or not, I won't stop but keep going till I make it.
I am carrying every goal I didn't meet up this year to next year. I know it's going to be tough because I will have to put goals for this year in place first before I start attending to that of next year or combine both. Either ways, when we get there, we will face it.

I've also had a HP target, but couldn't achieve it. Don't try to hard there's always the next day, the next post to re-start the journey to your next HP goal. If we imagine hive having more users and growing more, we're still early :)

Sometimes, things don't go as we expected, it's okay. It's never the end of life and we will definitely achieve them when we are determined to. It may take months or years, seeing them actualized in the end is what really matters.
