Our lives are determined by the place where we were born. We should all understand this because it is what makes us who we are. From our customs, what we eat, our culture and our religion. In the same way, to a lesser extent, we have local differences for those who live in urban areas or in the countryside.
Come with me!
My story
I was born in a small town in the interior of the country. A city with less than twenty thousand inhabitants, half of which were in the rural area and the other half in the urban area. When I was born, my parents lived in the urban area of the small town, which allows me to say that I have always lived in the urban area :)
However, my grandparents lived in the rural area and we frequented that environment very regularly. And so, I think this allows me to say that I have known both environments!
Life in the countryside is very different from urban life, as it has different and very well-defined schedules and tasks. A routine that repeats itself regardless of holidays or weekends.
The climate and animals determine much of how rural areas function. For small-scale farmers, and in our case we planted beans, there is no such thing as dedicating yourself to just one type of activity. This means that it is necessary to plant and also take care of animals. And to plant a variety of things, enough to feed the family and have little dependence on industrialized products.
And the animals can provide by-products, which also support the family and serve as a secondary income.
So planting beans was the main focus, and corn, fruit trees, cattle and pigs ended up being the secondary activity.
I never worked with farm chores, I was always too young to get involved, and when I started to get older I was already so attached to the customs of the city that I no longer knew how to do things.
I studied and grew up in the city. I spent almost my entire life in urban areas and I don't know how to get by in rural areas. School was essential in guiding me to progress and I ended up following the academic path.
The opportunities that urban areas offer have their costs. And the quality of life seems to be significantly lower. You are tied to the clock (although on the farm you are tied to the routine of animals). In the city you have easy access to products, including things that you don't even need and could very well live without.
There is also pollution, mental health and burnout, which haunt the reality of all urban workers. This is a very strong negative point. There is also traffic, hours of commuting to work. That's another story...
We also have libraries, art and culture, theater and cinema... how great that is!
I wouldn't know how to adapt to a rural environment, I'm totally adapted to an urban environment.

Nossa vida é determinada pelo local onde nascemos. Isso todos devemos compreender pois é o que faz sermos quem somos. Desde nossos costumes, o que comemos, nossa cultura e nossa religião. Da mesma forma, com menor intensidade, temos diferenças locais para quem vive na área urbana ou no interior.

Minha história
Eu nasci em uma cidade pequena do interior do país. Uma cidade com menos de vinte mil habitantes, cuja metade estava na área rural e a outra metade no entorno urbano. Quando nasci, meus pais moravam na área urbana da pequena cidade, o que me permite dizer que sempre morei na área urbana :)
Contudo, meus avós moravam na área rural e frequentávamos esse ambiente com muita regularidade. E assim, acho que isso me permite dizer que conheci os dois ambientes!
A vida no campo é muito diferente da vida urbana, pois tem horários e fazeres diferenciados e muito bem determinados. Uma rotina que se repete independente de feriados, independente de fim de semana.
O clima e os animais determinam boa parte do funcionamento da área rural.
Para os agricultores pequenos produtores, e no nosso caso plantávamos feijão, não existe essa coisa de se dedicar apenas a um tipo de atividade. Isso significa que é necessário plantar e também cuidar de animais. E plantar uma variedade de coisas, suficiente para alimentar a família e ter pouca dependência de produtos industrializados.
E os animais podem fornecer subprodutos, que também mantém a família e servem de renda secundária.
Então a plantação de feijão era a aposta principal, e o milho, as frutíferas, os bovinos e suínos acabavam sendo a atividade secundária.
Nunca trabalhei com as tarefas do campo, sempre fui pequeno demais para me envolver, e quando comecei a ter idade já estava tão ligado aos costumes da cidade que já não sabia como fazer as coisas.
Foi na cidade que estudei e que cresci, passei quase toda minha vida na área urbana e não sei me virar na área rural. A escola foi fundamental para me guiar para o avanço e acabei por seguir a área acadêmica.
As oportunidades que a área urbana oferece tem seus custos. E a qualidade de vida parece ser significativamente menor. Você é preso ao relógio (se bem que na fazendo você é preso à rotina dos animais). Na cidade você tem acesso a produtos com facilidade, inclusive coisas que você nem precisa e poderia muito bem viver sem.
Ainda tem a poluição, a saúde mental e o burnout, que perseguem a realidade de todos os trabalhadores urbanos. Isso é um ponto negativo muito forte. Ainda tem o trânsito, horas de distância para poder trabalhar. Isso é outra história...
Também temos as bibliotecas, arte e cultura, teatro e cinema... como isso é bom!
Eu não saberia me adaptar ao ambiente rural, estou totalmente adaptado ao ambiente urbano.
