The social media platform is a joke! Today while I was scrolling through Tiktok I came across a post that the creator titled How to escape if you were buried alive
.
source
The title got my attention so I was curious to know the solution, I found all the steps hilarious, the first step was using a cloth to cover your mouth, the second step was to break the wood and that was where I figured the creator was outta his mind cos how is it possible to break a coffin with your hand! It is not just a coffin but a coffin with sand on it, making it 5 times stronger...
To cut the gist short, the last step was to dig your way to the top, I guess in his country they do not cement the grave cos here in Nigeria, the grave is concrete so no matter how you dig, no way you can dig the concrete but that is even if it is possible to dig.
Being Buried alive is one of the worst things that can happen to someone, you would be helpless and you might even die of suffocation immediately after you woke up to the darkness around you knowing you are 6ft down! there is no air to breathe in, so it is actually a horrible way to die. I just hope some gullible people do not believe the creator that one can escape if buried alive...
The same way we have cruise catchers, jokers, and other funny people on social media is the same way we have people who say the truth in the name of catching a cruise ...So I do not agree with the quote that says do not judge me by what I post
I will over judge you!
The fact that you post about it means you think about it, you have it in your mind, so social media just gives power to people who do not have the confidence to do those things offline.

I do not think it sounds good to mandate dropping social media handles to employers because that is a violation of privacy but I also think if it is mandated, the level of immorality in the world would reduce... Some people won't act like they do not have family on social media anymore once their job is at stake... People just post what they like without the fear of the Audience... Imagine a 17-year-old girl posting a twerking video with a sexy caption! others even younger than her do the same, that is how bad it has gotten, so imagine what the older ones would be doing.
They just do not care because it doesn't affect them in any way, but once it is mandated at your place of work or school to drop your identity on social media so they can check and know what you have been up to and the kind of life you are living, the fear of missing out would make everyone to compose themselves and not act like orphans online.

I agree that if social media engagement will be used to as one of the factors to get a job then, there will be less chaotic, immoral, indecent, disrespectful content on the internet.
Especially for those who work online or have an online skill, it is will very hard to post or engage any how.
yea, people misuse the freedom of social media... You will see kids talking to adults anyhow, something they dare not try offline...
The privacy of social media is the only thing keeping some people safe from the things they deserve.
The monetization of social media has taken the craze to a whole new level. With this, virtually everyone out there wants to be a content creator.
Employees of reputable organizations are not left out too. Some of the ladies post lewd videos for the sake of views. They've been sold the dream that they can 'hammer' in few months with consistent contents.
they will do anything to trend, money is indeed the root of all evil
You raised a valid point but I think observing tracking them won't be effective on them to stop in long term. But I agree with that if they have the fear, it can help to post something reasonable rather than nonsense post.
they dont even need to be tracked, the moment they realize their job is at stake, they wont misbehave online anymore
A very complete explanation in my opinion, it is true that there are several things outside of work that the company needs to know, but if the company monitors our daily activities outside of work, of course the employees seem to be uncomfortable.
well they wont be monitored, submitting their id is to check their past record if they are living a decent life or they are trolls online or those who post indecent videos, if you are an employer, you wont want such people to work for you.
I think it can be a great way to increase accountability in general for the younger generation. Maybe also, bridge the gap between the different personalities we have lol, since our work is also tied to our social media handle and is an extension of it. Who knows, some may choose to create multiple social media profiles just to elude this responsibility.
yea they will choose to stay anonymous, which is fine, as long as they behave well in their known account.... anonymous people can be regarded as people who do not exist since they are hiding
Lol, yes. Being anonymous is also a way to act responsibly.
Not a straight forward answer but depend on the some factors. No doubt privacy comes first. But if the action leads to the damage of company reputation then we have thing of our action.
it is a social media, i dont see the need of privacy there, most things we post are viewed by thousands of people, so what privacy?
Hm
Another thing is that our social network tells a lot about us so if I want to employ someone, I’d ask about the person’s social media details and to reach him in case he runs away with my money
another good reason to ask for their id😀
Just kill me with laughter boss🤣🤣,
The truth is Social media as requirements for work won't really do much to stop the nonsense going on there, they can easily have multiple accounts, I think the only way is a strict regulation from Government, but I can't see that happening anytime soon
if they have multiple accounts, it means they know what they are doing is bad and yet refuse to stop....
