Yeah... I Can Do That!!!

Hmm… will I become an influencer? That is a major question to ask me, and when it all boils down to it, it comes with an easy answer. When I get the chance, I’m definitely going to take it up. I’d love to be known and appreciated in my field and I would love to also be seen as a voice of reason and one of respect, especially as a writer. I want to be the kind of person that when I make posts, no matter the platform, people will pause to read it.

Of course, none of this comes easy because building a reputation like that takes a lot from the individual, and many times, it takes things that can’t be returned. Many times, as a price for fame, we end up losing parts of ourselves just because we’re trying to please the insatiable masses.

There are a lot of shady things people have done to gain prominence. Some people have gone the route of “leaking” their sex tape to the internet, and riding on the waves caused by the severe backlash. They somehow use the negative press to promote their own brand and build their following. And for some reason, it keeps working. People keep doing it and I guess it will always be delivering as long as it’s done well.

Then, let’s not forget those who are ready to be controversial just to build a following. They’ll fight other influencers, they will diss celebrities bigger than they are. Hell, they’re even ready to talk trash about their friends and family if it would help their cause. As in ehn, it can be really sickening to note the lengths some people will be willing to go all in the name of building followers. When you think about it, you can’t help but wonder if these guys had any home training or if they were ever loved at home.

Sadly, when it comes to these things, many people simply leave their home training off-camera and off the internet. When it comes to the digital world, they can be trolls and wolves that will snap at anything at all just to make themselves look good. In my opinion, these are the worst kind of people and I’d never want anything to do with them.

And then, there are those who have managed to build their online presence by carefully honing their craft. With consistent delivery, they’ve managed to build a brand and also craft a reputation for themselves. This is the slot I plan to fall into. The kind of influencer you are will determine the kind of ethics you get to break. And for me, I don’t want to be controversial or anything, I simply want to do what I want, which is to tell my stories. I don’t think a lot of ethics can be gone against with such a mindset.

So, when I do end up becoming an influencer, I want it to be within the field of storytelling. I want to be a force to be reckoned with. I believe that it’s something I can handle, both with the ethics and the responsibilities of such a status. I’m sure that I would deliver, no matter how difficult. So yeah, if I had the opportunity, I don’t think that there is anything that would make me say no to it.
