It’s not a rumor, Christmas is definitely around the corner. This is the week and in just a few hours, we’ll be celebrating the reason for the season. I’ve made it clear that I’m going to enjoy this season to the best of my ability, and since I returned to Lagos, I’ve been trying to do just that. It’s been loads of fun, spending the season with my family and I’m sure that there will be more to come.
Coming home to my family has easily been one of the highlights of the year for me. It was about three whole years since I last saw them and it’s good to be with them once again. I know that once the holidays come to an end and everyone has to return to their lives, we’ll simply fall back into a routine. But that doesn’t really scare me. I’m sure that the memories of this season will be able to carry me through the year 2025 until I can give myself a much-needed vacation.
So, for this holiday, what have I done so far? Well, I’ve been visiting my old friends. People that I had not seen in quite a while, and I have also been entertaining visits as well. This is very important because now is the only period I’ll have enough time to do all this. I know that once the holidays are over, it will be nigh impossible for me. I will be too swamped with work and other things, so it’s a no-go area for me. Visiting and entertaining visits will become an uphill task.
Reconnecting with friends has been fun so far. There are so many things to catch up on, things that couldn’t be discussed on the phone or in chat. Hell, for many of them, just seeing them in person was just awesome and I’ve loved every minute of it. I know that as the days roll by, I will still have more visitors and also pay more visits as well.
Besides going to see friends, I’ve been taking my time out to flex myself. Two nights ago, I went to the cinema to see the AY movie; The Waiter. My plan was to go watch Everybody Loves Jenifa, but when I got there, they told me that it was going to begin at 8:20 that night, and for a two-hour film, it meant I would be there till well past 10:30 at the cinema. I wasn’t ready for that kind of late-night waka-waka, so I opted to watch The Waiter instead.
My thoughts on the movie? Well, it’s just what you’d expect from a classic AY movie. If you’ve seen his other movies, then this is basically no different. Although the storyline touches on themes that are affecting Nigerians today, the fight scenes were nicely choreographed and shot. They also had a cute command of their effects, which made the action scenes a bit more watchable. So, it could be worth a watch.
However, the downside to all this was the fact that the speakers at the cinema were faulty. Like, they had to use an MP3 speaker for the audio and it just wasn’t good at all. I’m a noisemaker and I love when the sound surrounds me and takes over so I can’t hear anything else. That also kind of ruined the movie for me. At this point, I’m seriously reconsidering going there to watch Everybody Loves Jenifa and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 which will be released on Boxing Day. There is another cinema not too far from here that I’ll be trying out biko.
Well, I don’t know for sure, I guess only time will tell. So many things have happened since I started this holiday and from the look of things, many more things will happen. It has to. The year has been a particularly tough one and this small reprieve that I’m getting is much deserved. And on that note, I look forward to everything else the season has to offer.

Interesting @bruno-kema, it seems like you are enjoying the festive season. I love the reconnection with friends and family,it’s such a great way to celebrate Christmas.
It seems this holiday was is specifically made for you, I can't remember the last time I had this much fun during holiday. Well I am not really a fan of cinema, I enjoy watching my movies in private. I didn't know you are back in Lagos, how does it feel be back in civilisation? 😂
The joy of being with one's loved ones is indescribable. The memories shared together is forever cherished. I wish you a Christmas filled with joy and fulfilment.
It seems like you have a lot of things to do in the Christmas and best of luck to you from my side. For me, it's a holiday but I think this year is going to be boring holiday for me.
It's great that you're making the most of your time with family and friends. Reconnecting with old friends is always a wonderful feeling, and it's awesome that you're prioritizing that during this holiday season. Sorry to hear that the cinema experience was marred by faulty speakers, though! Hopefully, the other cinema you're planning to try out will be better. Thanks for sharing out. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a great rest of the holiday season!"
