This is very correct, there is no distance that is too far when it comes to success. As long as you have life in you, then there is still some more territory to conquer.
Like you, I also enjoy reading books by people who have actually faced troubles and struggles and were able to overcome it.
The beauty of a success story is in the trials and tribulations and how they are conquered. That is what attracts the people. No one wants to read about life being a bed of roses.
