Siblings can be the best thing to ever happen to us just as they can be the most annoying thorn in our sides. There will always be times when you’ll just love them tremendously and you’ll know for a fact that you’ll do anything at all for them. And then, there are times when you just feel like taking their heads and bashing them against a concrete wall. That’s true love, my dear. For many, siblings can be great company so that you’re never alone. As long as you have them, you’ll never feel lonely because there will always be something to do and something to say to each other. As for me, I’m the fifth of six children. Although we’re down to five now after we lost one of my brothers. I know just how it feels to be the last born and I have to admit that there were times when I wished I was still the last born because a lot of things would have gone easy for me while growing up. Such times were mostly during my childhood. I was very active in church back then, but once I did whatever it was I went to do, going back home was always a war for me because I’ll stay back with other kids my age and play. Many times, we might not even play, we just hang around and talk until dusk before all of us will start running home, thinking of the lies we’ll tell our parents. At this stage of my life, most of my elder ones were no longer in the house. They were either in the university or boarding school. This left just my baby sister and I, along with my parents in the house. Seeing how my parents were working class, they always left home in the morning and returned in the evening. This meant that from the moment I returned from school, I was home alone with my sister. And that was where the problem lay. Going to church was never the problem, I couldn’t leave her at home alone, my parents would have skinned me alive. So, it was either I stayed home or took her with me. So I took her along. The main issue came when the program was over and I wanted to hang out with my friends. You know how young boys play, running around. Sometimes our play will take us far from the church, many times we could decide on the fly to go to the house of one of us. However, with my sister in church as well, I couldn’t do all these. When playing, I had to keep an eye on her and when running I made sure I didn’t go too far. I couldn’t even stay out as late as I would have loved to because my parents would not like it. If there was ever a time I wish I didn’t have a sibling, this would be it. However, this was only toward my younger sister, and it was for a really short period. As for my elder ones, the only time I came close to harboring such thoughts was during the battle for the TV remote. Whenever they are around, I can only watch what they want to watch and I was powerless to do anything about that. Many times, our interests aligned, and other times, they simply watched things I didn’t like. It was my sisters that made me a fan of Barbie. Back then, there was no installment that I didn’t watch. Anyway, other than that, I’ve never really harbored the thought that life would have been better if I had no siblings, or if I had more siblings for that matter. I love my family as it is and there is nothing I’ll do to change it if I could. Except for bringing back my late brother. Having siblings is bae, indeed. Especially when they’re married and working, making money. You can always bill them as the baby bro or baby sis that you are and you’ll be sure that they’ll turn up for you. And one of my greatest wishes, as we all go about finding our place in this cold wild world, is that we’ll always remain a unit, and no matter the distance, we’ll always be together. Because crazy things are indeed happening.
So long we have our siblings, we're never truly alone
I was like a playlist for all Barbie songs and I could sing all of them word for word. That’s to tell you just how bad it was. Over time though, the interest died. But that background is one of the things that makes me excited about the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. I’m looking forward to seeing how they’ll do justice to the Barbie we’ve gotten used to over the years.
No matter how long the journey, your family will always have your back!

I was a senior to most of my siblings and the females among us, at a time wished they never had me as a brother Especially when it comes TV. I'm a music freaked and I could play a particular song on repeat for ages and my siblings used to get mad at me but there was absolutely nothing they could do😂.
I'm sure if they were to write on this topic, I'll be centre 😄
Hah... how will you play one song on repeat like that? E good???😂
But then, that's the perks of being the oldest kid in the house. The only person that can tell you what to do are your parents, and when they're not home, you get to be the boss.😅
E too sweet. One maddd jam 🙈
Yeah, that bossy feeling
Too bad, I didn't have an elder brother to pamper me but it's not bad being the biggest bro in the family.
I understand the feeling of having to always watch over your sister anytime you have to go out with her and regardless of the troubles our siblings give us, they always have a special place in our heart.
Sorry about your late brother, may his soul continue to rest in peace.
Indeed... they will always have a special place in our hearts. No matter how annoying they can be from time to time. But then, that's just life, right?
Thanks for the condolence, bro.✌
You really had a nice fun times growing up @bruno-kema . Hanging out is what most boys do to enjoy friendship although your little sister was sometimes a hitch. And growing up among seniors, we must show respect. At least now you are expecting the release of the new Barbie courtesy of the remote control in the house then haha 😃. So much fun reading this publish. Enjoy your day. Greetings.
Well... all that was not for too long because she eventually became old enough to spend a few hours on her own at home and I didn't have to take her everywhere with me.
I'm glad you enjoyed this read.
Hahaha 😂. I don laugh Taya. In my family, if there is anyone to hit his or her head against a correct wall, I will be the one, yet I am the most loving of all.
Thanks for sharing.
Hehe... you must be the troublemaker in the family😂
In mine, that role was assigned to my baby sister. Thank God she grew out of the role, if not wahala for dae.😅
We only have those feelings as children haha, young guy want to cruise alone without babysitting,
And that remote thing, you can never win except your parents are around.
Omo... small play again, someone can't play.
For the remote, you can't win even if my parents are there o. Just that we get to watch what they want. If it's not news, then we might watch movies as well. My Mom was also a fan of Barbie as well... so...😏
At times, I feel the pain of some people when they say they don't have siblings...lol
Siblings are one of the most wonderful gifts that we can ever have
Truly, why won't you love them?
Yeah... what's there not to love?
I actually feel for those who have siblings but they're just not close, or on talking terms. It's sad, really.
Everything has its own advantages and disadvantages. Being a junior one has many facilities but at the same time you will face some problem also. It's the law of nature 🙂.
Yeah... it's the law of nature, indeed.
My Guy wants to Bill lolz. One of the benefits of having siblings is that they can easily come through for you during challenges.
Yeah... and that knowledge really makes one feel relaxed. Because why not?
