Omo, when it comes to apps on my phone, I actually have a number of them. However, the ones that I make use of are ridiculously few in number. Although I’m not one to just download apps without any cogent reason, I just usually find myself losing interest after a while, unless the app turns out to be something that I’ll be using on a regular.
And in this day and age where deleting stuff is like donating your own liver, it can be a bad trait because these things just pile up, they make updates and as we know, the upgrades always come with new features that only add to the size of what the previous model had.
There are apps that I’ve never used since I bought the phone, like the radio. I can’t believe there are still people who listen to radio in this day and age. Okay, just kidding, I can actually believe it. Then, why do we have a Gallery app and also have Photos app? Like, isn’t that basically the same thing? However, they have their differences though. The gallery is good for viewing, you can easily scroll through your pictures and thanks to Google Lens, you can use pictures to make searches on the internet. Photos app actually has more features, especially when it comes to editing pictures. That’s where I edit all the pictures I take. However, I’ve not taken pictures for a while, especially since I got into my final year, so the Photos app has been lying dormant.
A lot of the factory apps that came with the phone are not even being used. I don’t use my phone’s contact app, I use Truecaller. I don’t even use my phones messaging app because no one messages me again. I’ve warned people not to send me SMS because I’ll most likely miss it. I get so many spam messages on SMS, so if it’s not a bank alert, I won’t pay any mind. Most texting are done through WhatsApp and Discord.
There are other apps that I also don’t make use of, one of them is Xender. I don’t collect movies from people, and I don’t really send them either because these days I prefer to stream. It’s so much easier and leaves room for more important things. However, for some reason, I still have the app on my phone.
I used to have Zoom, Google Meet, Reddit, and so many other apps on my phone. However, I soon realized that these were apps that I was using sparingly. At least once a month. And that would be all. However, the apps were always getting updates, messing up my notification bars with the incessant notifications that were never enough to get me to go through the app.
Even though I needed these apps, especially the Zoom and the Google Meet, the fact that I wasn’t using them regularly meant they had to go. So, they went. Now, every time I need to run a Zoom meeting or Google Meet, I simply download the app. Logging in is never difficult and it’s always a seamless operation. Then, once I’m done, I uninstall it back. Until the next time.
This is the method I’ve been using for so many apps and it’s been working for me. I use it for a number of apps, deleting them and calling on them when I need them only to delete them all over again when I’m done. They don’t weigh much, and most of them are never up to 300 MB, which is not even up to half of what I spend every day on the internet.
There are so many apps that I’m actually using. Thanks to the internet and the beauty of owning a smartphone, there are so many opportunities online and these opportunities many times determine that you’d download apps that will end up becoming obsolete in your phones because you don’t make use of them.
Anyway, it’s the perks of using smartphones. Eventually, you’ll run out of space and then you’ll be forced to clean house. By that time, get ready to delete everything and be ready to start everything on a clean slate.
I guess time will tell.
Crazy apps up and down. I do have this radio app and I just remembered that I tried opening it once and didn't know how it ended.
I just have to clean up my house soon because they are so much and I don't need my phone to weep before I do that. The age of android just brought lots of complications that everyone just want o fix their app there so they could sap our data
As in ehn... too many apps drain your data and your battery. Just annoying!
It's good to know I am not the only one who loves to stream movies, been a long time since I downloaded movies because I don't see the usefulness when it is not as if I was going to rewatch them....
and Xender is becoming useless with the presence of streaming apps for movies and there are apps like Audio Mack for songs too
Yeah... thanks to these apps and internet, I can listen to whatever I want, whenever I want to, without them taking up space.
I still listen to radio when there is no electricity and a favourite football team is playing. Radio is still very relevant but all these applications that come with the phone can be very annoying and it's more annoying because these applications can cause problems when deleted.
As in ehn... factory apps are just annoying. But then, what can we do? It's just how it is for us.
Some apps are only occupying spaces on the phone memory for no significant usefulness. I will like to adopt this your style of deleting and reinstalling when needed. Some apps not being used but bringing in notifications endlessly are more annoying.
Yesso... and the cost of doing that is little. So far you have your login details, you're covered.
There are a lot of application which we don't use but at the same time we can't uninstall those which is very irritating to me.
Omo... very annoying, I must say.
Ahhh! Is like you will dash me your Xender because I love watching movies alot.
There is actually quite a number of apps that we don't use and they are there because they come with the phone.
Thanks for sharing
Yeah... most factory apps are boring and not enjoyable. On a norms, no one would download them, that's why we're forced to have them on our phones.

This can not be overstated, I hardly use system apps on my phone as well, the truth is once in a while I go around checking my phone for apps I don't use regularly and delete them, for me the only mobile game I have is Chess, no more.
For social media, I have X (which I'm considering to delete as I don't use it often), whatsapp and discord for hive purposes as well as Ecency. That's all for me with my system apps, netflix and Mx player.
