Let’s be honest, some people just love to pop pills like it’s candy. They’d take any opportunity that presents itself to take one medicine or the other. They only have to suspect that they have a particular illness, and they’ll rush to the pharmacy to get drugs. They won’t even bother to get analyzed by the doctors, they just go for what they want, and that’s it.

Sadly, this is something that doesn’t just happen with pills, people also abuse injections and drips in this way as well. Once they get a slight fever or headache, they conclude it’s malaria and go demand a drip or injection. But then, the thing is that every time you take those things, your body gets more receptive to them, and they also become less effective in combating the illnesses.

I’m the kind of person who has to really fall sick before I can take certain drugs. Sometimes, you’ll think you have malaria, but what you are is just dehydrated. The moment you drink enough water, you’ll be fine. The headache will vanish, and you’ll be as good as new. Other times, you feel sick because you’re lacking proper sleep or you’ve been stressing yourself. Either way, the symptoms of these things look like regular illnesses, but their treatments are pretty basic, yet many don’t know it.

And that’s why it’s so crazy, because while we’re learning as a species, everything that has life is also learning to adapt. Rats have learned how to avoid traps, they are now resistant to most poisons that used to kill them when we were kids. Roaches are no longer scared of light, before, they loved the dark, and when you shone light on them, they scampered away. Not anymore, they’ll still go about their business, ignoring you. Until you tried to kill them.

I believe goats are even worse. In the past, where a simple wave of your hand could scare them off, it no longer does anything. Right in front of you, they’d come and eat your food. They’d only run if you physically touch them. Visual threats no longer work. So, what am I saying? Everything is learning. We’re all evolving. And sadly, diseases and illnesses are not left behind.

There is now drug-resistant malaria. You could take drugs for a serious illness, but it could be as good as taking placebos. And it’s really scary. Like, the world is getting so advanced to the point that our groundbreaking medical discoveries are no longer enough because the opps have caught on. Does this mean we need more drugs? Because they’ll simply evolve past that as well.

Regardless of how you look at it, this is a really scary period to be ill. But I feel that there is good news. You only develop tolerance for something that’s been introduced to your body over a long period of time. I’ve always been a pills guy, and in the last five years, I can count how many times I‘ve been sick enough to need pills. So, if I ever find myself becoming tolerant of it and they no longer work as they should, then I have drips and injections to turn to because that is even more rare for me. I think it’s been ten years since I had my last injection. And drip?? Can’t even remember when!

This is why many times, it's better for the doctor to tell you what to take and what will work best for you. Because if you keep treating every symptom as malaria or typhoid, when the real malaria comes, you’d take drugs and the malaria will chest it like a champ! Self-medication will always be dangerous, because you could be using the wrong treatment for the wrong drug. The symptom will only get worse.

So, let’s just do better.

I found one thing interesting. read almost 6-8 post related to the contest. Except one person, other's immunity system is good. I feel I am following the same king of person who actually think like me😅.
And again I think we should stop thinking like a doctor as we are not doctor. It's better to leave some things for the experts of this field.
