Creative Sunday ~ Making Moi Moi (A Nigerian Yoruba Dish)

in Hive Learners7 months ago

Hello everyone. Happy Sunday and today, I’ll be showing you all how I make Moi Moi. Moi Moi is a very popular food in Nigeria especially amongst the Yoruba tribe. Moi Moi is a popular bean pudding dish which is made with blended beans.

To make Moi Moi, you need;

Beans
Pepper
Egg or Fish (I didn’t use because it isn’t a must)
Veg.oil
Seasoning

Here are the things that are needed to make Moi Moi. The first thing needed to do when making Moi Moi is peeling your beans. To peel beans, you have to soak it in the water for a few minutes so it can get soft before you begin to peel it.

After peeling the beans, the next thing to do is pouring it inside the blender with enough pepper that will be enough to make the Moi Moi colored, then you grind. Luckily, I make use of a blender that blends well so it was easy for me.

We wouldn’t be able to cook the Moi Moi without the seasoning. Protein is a very inportant part of Moi Moi but I chose not to add any protein for personal reasons.
This time, I added my seasonings like salt and Maggi. Some add ginger to Moi Moi but I’m not a fan so my salt and Maggi is enough for me.

My veg.oil goes next. To make the Moi Moi form well, you need to mix some groundnut oil before you tie it into the nylon.

Then, pouring or packaging the Moi Moi is the next step. Normally, Moi Moi is meant to be packaged inside the common Moi Moi leaf but out of scarcity, I made use of the regular nylon which so many people use as well.

The last step is waiting for it to get done. To check if your Moi Moi is done, you can use a fork or your hand to press it. If it comes back up, then, your Moi Moi is done.
Let’s see the final result of my Moi Moi.

To be honest, my Moi Moi tastes well. There is absolutely nothing that is stressful in making Moi Moi. Thanks for reading this far.
