My very first earning got me a tool I needed

It is a beautiful day to hop on the contest on the hivelearners platform. The prompt for this edition is about the very first earning and what I got with it.

From my previous posts, I have shared my kind of profession which is being a makeup artist. If you know about this craft, you will realize that it can be expensive when it comes to building the makeup kits and gadgets. First, the products or let me say the quality products are expensive. The tools needed as a makeup artist asides makeup products, for example, makeup chair, ring light, led light, camera or a very good camera quality phone, tripod can be really pricey.

So when a makeup artist call price for you, do not price it down 😂. People are usually like, is it not just makeup. Well it is just makeup and slot goes into it. It does not end with powders and foundations.

As I was saying, the tools can be really expensive. I started saving up for my quality products during National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), a kind of mandatory service graduates undergo after university, if still under the age of 30.

So I get paid as a Corp member by the government. Which I keep part of it for kit building. Well, that is also a type of earning, but that is not I want to dwell on. The type I want to share is the one I made after I started my makeup artistry craft.

After getting my products. I relaxed and waited for bookings from clients. Remember I only have products. No lights, no chair, oh well I have a phone with good camera quality.

I already have a list of items I will love to buy as soon as I earn some money. I have them laid out in scale of preference.

Thank goodness, bookings rolled in, earned some money. Went to my list to check for what the money I have saved up van afford.

I could afford to get me a ring light. It was the first on my list, because to enable build up my portfolio, I need good pictures. For me to get good pictures of my clients, I need good lighting. Lighting makes a huge difference when it comes to taking pictures.

Although I have photographer friends that we work together but I can not always wait on them for good pictures of my clients.

I was super excited that I could afford to get a ring light for my work. I sat back, planned on how I am going to get it. I was in a dilemma of going through an online vendor or going to a physical shop.

After several consideration, I decided to go to a physical shop, because I couldn't afford to gamble on the light. I would love to see options of light and also test them before leaving with the item.

I decided to go early in the morning this particular day so that I can get a good bargain. That's my believe though. I got to the store and saw different brands and after several talks and bargain, I went home with my ring light.
