THE LIFE WE DREAM

Hello Hiveans

I will be sharing with us the life we dream of.

In the cool of the evening, Somewhere very far from Bayelsa State, Nigeria 🇳🇬

Events of the orientation camp flashed through my memories.

I could hear the sound of the bigul preparing us for early morning devotions and a parade.

I could even see the seriousness on the faces of every of my platoon members matching as our lives depended on the parade.,left wheel, right wheel, slow match, Up, Left, right.....

And our platoon commandants. C hai, I miss this one o o and the weird faces they would make whenever we are not getting it right. 🤓

Oh, how can I not remember the sound of "WILL YOU"?A phrase which originally was supposed to keep us in order but then it became a popular slogan.

And then the Man 'O' war team, the drilling and their many interesting songs😆 . I liked the song "Who is a man o o?

Oh!! How can I forget how we were made to seat in five hours of lectures every day? I remember how some of it means to deliberately skip these lectures and became permanent chefs in the kitchen and regular patients at the clinics. Some even decided to go for darker shades of glass so they could sleep during these lectures.

Chai. I miss Sunday Chicken o o. The only day that seems like Christmas to those of us who were regular customers at the kitchen not at the Mami.

Hmmm..how can I not remember the days we were made to squat Or pick a hundred stones as punishment for an offence we committed or for the sins of our fellow gentlemen corp members.

Yes yes yes oh yes I remember the day we all came out kitted in our washed and fully starched uniform, with full confidence( the kind of confidence you exhibit when you've fully read a lecturer's textbook back to back ready for your exam )ready for the parade🤣. Only to be shocked at the outcome of the result...

WHO REMEMBERS THE SPOON?

Well here is the gist👇🏾

While I was swimming in my mind, enjoying the memories these days brought...A big question popped into my head.

WHAT NEXT?

What do you want to do with your life after your service year?

How time flies...the NYSC uniform we admired, wished and prayed we could one day wear, is what we have now.

What will happen after now?

What are your plans?

Are they strong enough to secure a future for you?

Or do u plan on joining the multitude of youths out there carrying their CV around looking for jobs?

Or do you want to become an employee of Labour right even before the end of your service year?

THE CHOICE IS YOURS

JUST SO U KNOW...The journey of one year has begun and in less than 11 months it will b over.

A wise man once said. He who fails to plan plans to fail...

Be wise... Plan ur future, while in NIGERIA YOUTH SERVICE, because is not always as thought.

Thanks for reading.
