The Unthinkable Happened Today In Malaysia Pickleball

Today, someone actually had a sudden death from pickleball. It's something I would never imagine. I wouldn't be surprised about injuries in the eye, twisting ankle, knee pain, etc. The last thing anybody would think of is death from pickleball. I didn't witness it myself but it's been shared around the Malaysia pickleball community and quite the hot topic with it even being featured on some news platforms like The Star etc. Apparently, the person climbed over a fence to try to get a ball. The person fell off the ledge through the net and ended up on the floor below the net.

If I'm not wrong, this is where it happened. It's quite sad because the man is only 32 which is like 3 years older than me.

So now for my thoughts on this. Firstly, there's a fence there for a reason. You're not supposed to climb over the fence; this should be common sense. The guy is 32 so he should know better. I wonder if there were signs on the fence there just to make sure people don't climb. As for the netting, it should've been better or why even bother putting it there. I have no idea if the netting was to catch people or not though so I can't say for certain too much on this.

I've played at many different pickleball courts but I've never played on a court on the rooftop. With this happening, I might avoid it now as well because I feel it would be scary if somehow I had to witness it with my own eyes. Based on the numbers, something like this happening is super super unlikely. It's really unfortunate and I give my condolences for the family of the deceased man.

What do you think about all this? It's something that people wouldn't expect but when it happens, it shocks everybody.
