Longest bridge of the Netherlands, Zeelandbrug

in PhotoFeed3 years ago

The Dutch are known for their water management. One the most known works is probably the Delta Works (wikipedia). A series of dams and constructions to protect the river delta from the sea. The works started after a big flood in 1953. The project finished in 1986.

The constructed dams are used as roads. The biggest dam would not be finished before 1978 and as the area needed more infrastructure the "Zeelandbrug" was build.

It's a 5KM long crossing over the sea / river delta. Up until 1972 it was the longest bridge of Europe, until Sweden broke the record with a 6KM long bridge.

The "Zeelandbrug" is a known photography object in the Netherlands due to its distinguished shapes and interesting perspectives.

Cheers,
Thijs

Its really a long bridge.
Btw, I hope things will be settled with Russia and Ukraine. I feel for the people, not the country. 🙏🙏🙏
