We've been dealing with the consequences of regulatory capture for decades now, suspect it'll be more of the same except worse. Lol, inspections are already a joke, they're understaffed like hell and the penalties are such that plenty of places would rather just pay the fines than actually change how they do things.

Sounds depressingly familiar. We have had a spate of child deaths after children bought snacks or other foods contaminated with stuff like organophosphates from "tuck shops". There was also a "home butchery" in a residential area that got busted for packaging meat in extremely unsanitary conditions
