A Sublime Sunday in the Quarry

For this week's #sublimesunday, as inspired by @c0ff33a, I needed to get out of the house. The temperatures have been hovering around 0F here, with wind chills in the negative teens, so we've all been cooped up in the house. With some free time today, I decided to go check out the old quarry I love to hike; I was curious how all the recent snow looked in the area near me.

Despite being the only person in the quarry, it was obvious folks have been enjoying the area since the last big snowfall. There were plenty of foot tracks on the ground, and plenty of well-trod paths to make the hike easy.

I also noticed a few trails that were off the main trail that I had not noticed before. Time was limited today for additional exploring, but I will definitely head back this winter to check out where the other trails go. The side trails are typically overgrown with lots of weeds, so now would be the time to explore.

Despite the cold, I managed to get a few photos in and enjoy the solitude. It felt great to get out of the house, to be honest with you. No matter what the weather or temperature, I always appreciate my visits to the old abandoned quarry.

Long cold January shadows are now in play. It's amazing how quickly time is going already; it feels like it was only October a few weeks ago.
