OH NO!!! What do I do? Do I throw it away?

Hello to all of you who make life together with me in this beautiful Community.

Friends, I want to telyou something horrible that happened to me a few days ago.

Like every day I get up and immediately prepare my greca with water, coffee and sugar (all at once), while I clean myself and make my bed, I always know when the coffee is ready because of its delicious aroma.

This time while I was waiting for my coffee, I started to chop a chicken to prepare it for lunch (so I entertained myself a little), however, I was watching the coffee pot, it seemed to me that it was taking a little longer than usual to brew the coffee, but as I was busy with the chicken and the aroma did not reach me, I did not give it much importance.

Suddenly I got a smell, but it was not pleasant, I left the chicken to one side, I washed my hands and saw that the coffee pot was still not brewing and was smoking a lot, I immediately grabbed it and put it under the water jet.

I closed the jet and thinking that it was already cold I grabbed it from below to try to open it, I got a big burn on my hand, it was still very hot.

The first thing I did was to take a cold gel from the refrigerator and put it on my hand, but the pain was very strong, I called a neighbor and she brought me a cream called “SULFADIAZINA” and applied it on my hand and it relieved me a lot.

After the pain in my hand passed, a pain began in my soul for having burned my coffee pot, which has a great sentimental value for me, since it was a gift from my friend Lisbeth (I explained this in a publication dated March 10, 2024).

When I made sure that the coffee pot was very cold, I opened it and I felt like crying when I saw it completely burned, it was because I forgot to put the water in it.

I washed it and left it on top of the mezzanine; meanwhile I boiled water with sugar, looked for a cloth strainer that I had saved and I was able to strain my coffee.

I spent some time looking at my coffee pot without knowing what to do with it, should I throw it in the trash? -I wondered, but I washed it several times and left it on the mezon while I thought about what to do with it.

At night, when my husband arrived I told him what had happened to me and what he did was to laugh (which upset me a lot), but when he saw my face he told me “love don't worry, that coffee pot can be saved”, he grabbed it and washed it with a bright sponge to remove the burnt part as much as possible, he put water with vinegar and turned it on to clean it, he did that several times until the burnt smell was gone.

The next day my husband took the coffee maker to buy the rubber, which was completely destroyed, he got it, bought it and in the same store they put it on, it was perfect.

When my husband arrived with my coffee pot, I was very happy, I prepared it with water, coffee and sugar and mounted it on the stove, it did not smell anything burnt, when the coffee came up it gave off again that pleasant aroma of always and when I served it and tasted it it was delicious, so ¡my coffee pot was saved!, although it was a little ugly, I know it will not be like before, it does the job and I can enjoy it a few more months, so I am happy not to have discarded it.

So far my dear friends, another of my little stories with my inseparable friend “THE CAFË”. Thank you for reading it.

I'm sorry to hear about your burn and the entire experience. It's good that you were able to salvage the Moka pot and I hope your burn will be better soon.
Thanks for sharing this story with us, as it's a great reminder for us to be more mindful when using our coffee pots, as these things do happen 🤗

Hi Milly, it's true that these things usually happen, I think that with this unpleasant experience I will never forget to put the water in the cafeteria, the good thing is that I didn't lose it. My hand is now healthy, thank you very much! 🙏🤗☕

Harrowing! I love my little pot and was really worried when I first got it (but then calmed down when I realized there were replaceable parts). Glaf you managed to get your beautiful pot fixed. May it bring you many more delicious cups :)

Yes, I'm very happy to have it back after that big scare, that coffee pot I love and it has sentimental value. It will bring many cups of coffee, I assure you, hahaha😃☕️😋

What a disaster you suffered that day, you burned your hand and also the coffee pot. Luckily, it was nothing that could not be repaired and your hand healed from the burn. I can already imagine your anguish when you see the burnt coffee maker.

Thanks for sharing your coffee experience.☕

Excellent day.

Total disaster, but I was very lucky to recover my coffee maker although it will never be as it was before, but it will do its job for a long time, the hand is already healed.

It is a pleasure for me to share my experiences with my beloved friend "EL CAFË ” in this beautiful and fun Community. Thank you for your comments!🙌😃☕️😋

I’m so glad your coffee pot was saved and that you can continue enjoying your daily coffee ritual with it. Love how your husband stepped in to help fix it and bring it back to life. That was sweet of him ♥️

That's right friend, I'm happy to continue having my coffee maker and my husband is very kind to me and even though he doesn't drink coffee he always makes sure I never run out, when he sees that I'm running out he goes immediately to buy more, hahahaha 🤣. Thanks for your comment 😊
