Minimalist Korean Coffee Shop in Panglao - Must Checkout!

Namoo (12 of 24).jpg

There's always something new to look out for when passing by Panglao. I can vividly remember how we found this cafe, we were on our way to Alona when this white and wood cafe caught my attention. We were in a hurry that time so I told my husband we must visit it the next time we were in Panglao, he nodded.

And so, a few months later, we found ourselves in Tagbilaran City and we wanted to go somewhere that we hadn't tried before so I checked my "list" and then without too much thinking, we drove to Namoo.

I found out that Namoo is a Korean word that means tree and may be spelled as Na-moo or Na-mu. It’s a native Korean word that translates to ‘tree’, ‘wood’, or ‘firewood’. At first, I thought perhaps it was called that way because of the wood accent on the structure but actually, the reason is that it is located adjacent to a tree and its shade is giving Namoo that cool shade.

Let's go and check out what's inside!

As I mentioned in the title of this blog, this cafe is minimalist so expect not to see a lot inside! I love the door, it is my dream to have this type of design - white and wood on the door jambs with wooden furniture.

The space inside is actually big, it has more or less eight tables, and most can accommodate 4-8 pax. It's air-conditioned and bright, there was a lot of natural light coming in from their glass walls plus they have also light bulbs installed on the ceiling. I found their ceiling very aesthetic! It reminded me of our old house back when I was younger but this one is of course cleaner!

Perhaps the most attractive part of the cafe's interior is this wall with a huge artwork of a woman with short green hair from plants, wearing green-framed sunglasses and huge earrings. It's so huge that it occupies the whole wall to the ceiling.

We settled at a table next to this glass wall with a sheer curtain in it. I super adore their huge interior floor plants too! They got different kinds of chairs, by the way, there were some which were quite unique like the one my son was sitting on.

NAMOO serves coffee, sandwiches, pasta, burgers, and chicken meals, of course, they also have Korean food on the menu such as Kimchi fried rice and tteokbokki. You may check their menu from this link here.

We ordered the following: Caramel Machiatto, Cafe Latte, a big serving of fries, and french toast. Check the images here below:

While the pricing seemed on the expensive side, the coffee we ordered was truly good. I could say their coffee is strong as I wasn't able to sleep that night! We visited the cafe in the afternoon so it was a little late for me for coffee but I had to try it out so I had a taste of my own medicine.

My husband confirms the coffee was good! As for the french toast, I feel like it was not worth the Php 350, that was just a piece of bread sliced into four and just a few slices of mango and some pink sweet syrup added to make it pleasing.

Perhaps it would have been better if we tried some of their rice meals. That's a good reason to go back though!

At night, the curtains get opened, and from outside, passers-by would be able to see the inside and its clean interiors.

By the way, they have free WIFI too and it has a calm environment, no noise, only the mellow music playing in the background so this is a place where you can also work for those digital nomads!

The design is stunning, and the minimalist style is relaxing. The artwork is arresting and out of this world.
What a great find of a cafe.

This is such an amazing post, but in terms of engagement, especially among other community members, there could be some improvement. I hope that you'll take the time to check out some works of others and perhaps leave them comments.

@junebride I really liked the ceiling and the interior plants. The menu looks very attractive.

thanks dear..

What a beautiful coffee shop!
Everything is beautiful, elegant and colorful: the plate presentation, the drinks, even the cutlery! The wooden furniture is beautiful, simple and elegant. But I really fell in love with the chandeliers and the mural in the background, that mural is absolutely fantastic!
Thank you for taking such beautiful pictures!
