A new cafe for crochet lovers out there emerges in Banawa, Cebu City! I learned about this from a crochet artist friend of mine so I immediately added it my to check slash to-do list. Do you do that too? It's a way for me to be reminded of what I go check out again when I visit a place or city, especially Cebu City.
And so last December, when we were in Cebu, I decided to go and check it out before heading back to Bohol. We came around in the morning when it had just opened up. My little one slept on our way although it was pretty near to our place, and took us around ten minutes drive from Tisa.
From the outside, we could see this wide wall with all the yarns of different hues and tones! It's a great idea and a good backdrop to the cafe too! As you can see, there are empty corners and that means some of the yarns have been sold already.
I like the high ceiling style, the white walls, and different seating options like a lounge style with a low table for those who would like to do chika with their friends, they also have this high table which was just right for those who are working on their laptops, and there are also comfy tables for two or four groups and of course all of these are good for those who want to make crochets while enjoying their coffee!
I never realized that crochet materials are costly! I mean, they don't come cheap! These yarns were usually priced at least Php 500. They have several yarn brans and styles, I am not a crocheter and I have no idea what's this and that but I enjoy the colors and the different things that come with it like tutorial books, needles, and a lot more.
The cafe had partnered with some local crocheters for their products like the ones below. There were flowerpots right under the counter, there were tulips too which are quite famous for gifts, and they got several customized needles too!
We ordered coffee, of course, we can't just take photos of the place without ordering so here's my husband getting our orders. I remember ordering the Macchiatto while he ordered the Cafe Latte. While I told them we were dining in, I was expecting that they'd serve it in a cup but they got it in a takeaway paper cup. I was hoping there was some coffee art or something.
I can't complain anymore as it has been served. Their cups however have some cutie pups with conversation bubbles! We also ordered their sandwich with some chips as we thought of my little one who was sleeping, you'll see him below lying in the lounge.
As for the coffee, there was no note on the cup which was which so my husband switched the cups and I got his latte. It was halfway through the drink when I mentioned to him that my macchiato wasn't sweet. He then exclaimed, oh, I guess I got it. So we switched cups, it was funny, he already drunk half of my drink.
Thankful that they have a lounge so I was able to put down my little one. Now it was time to test their internet speed! I opened my laptop to work and joined my husband at the high table. It was comfortable and bright so it feels good working there.
Their speed isn't that fast, it's stable though. My husband and I were able to work well without interruption but it is evident that uploading images which is my usual work takes a lot of time.
This is probably the reason why my husband's face looks like below:
Anyway, while the baby was sleeping, I continued taking photos of the items for sale. They got these cute stuff here which I was already eyeing buying! They were all kawaii! Why are crocheted items so cute? Is it just me?
There are earrings and very cute keychain pendants too! But my favorite here was the coffee art!
There were also extra huge yarns located near this decorative mirror and there's a note that all visitors can help the cafe make flowers from these gigantic yarns! There were already flowers surrounding the decorative mirror. They provided a guide and I asked the staff how to start but they couldn't help as the crocheter staff was not available in the cafe, it was a bummer, I was looking forward to starting my crochet talent to rekindled because back in elementary, we have crochet class but I had forgotten how to do it.
They have some cute dolls too! Look at the items below. There's Sailor Moon, Harry Potter figures, Disney princesses, and more! Just how adorable these are!
At the cafe, they have these books that offer free patterns for visitors and customers to follow. This cafe is indeed a great place for those who want to do group crochet activities and I guess it's the first one in the city or even in the country.
I heard they also offer classes here! Just recently, they had this basic crochet session. They teach their students how to hold their hooks & yarn and learn all basic stitches. Now, that's what I wanted so next time we get to Cebu, I'll check if there's any schedule for their basic crochet class and I might join!
Your cozy yarn hideaway is located at 2/F, 8 Banawa Centrale, R. Duterte St., Banawa, Cebu City, just beside True Value and is open between 10 AM-9 PM from Tuesday-Sunday.
