How many cups of coffee have you drunk today? You know that there is a limit of caffeine in our bodies, but is that enough to prevent us from drinking coffee? for me, that's not enough. Coffee is a pleasant thing that nature has given humans. Is not it?
Recently, the price of coffee has started to rise, due to the difficulty in supplying coffee beans for several reasons. As a coffee farmer (even though I only have a small area of coffee trees), I know very well how that happens. Natural damage, where a lot of land is used for palm oil plantations, extreme weather in mountainous areas and crop failures, has caused coffee prices to rise.
Including robusta, which has reached 60% of the price in 2023. Robusta is very popular lately because many coffee shops make it a blended drink that is very popular. If Robusta is mixed with Arabica and then roasted a little dark, it will make a medium to strong coffee taste and is suitable for coffee dishes with syrup.
You see, trends are starting to change, from the past we liked black coffee, without sugar, without cream, replaced by something more attractive and expensive. However, this is generation Z's favorite. I think Millennials still like black coffee, of course because they were taught by their parents or people before us. How my father used to like to drink black coffee, because that was the only menu he knew. Then I ended up needing black coffee to cheer me up in the morning.
The trend changed when all the coffee shops created new variations to make them popular, of course this was a development that attracted customers and adopted menu choices with cream, milk, sugar and syrup. Everyone likes a fatty, nutty and sweet taste!
One example of what I do, sometimes I like the coffee variety menu. Almost every morning I drink a warm latte that my wife makes (she's really good at making coffee now) and also an iced americano, two shots of espresso every day and I'm bored and want to try a variation. Surely you have done it?
Trying the new menu at one of the coffee shops in Medan, Big Papa, this coffee shop is very famous, in fact it has been around since 2020, but I just stopped by here, I'm very curious. Why am I so curious? The reason is very simple. This coffee shop still survives among the many coffee shops that eventually closed due to competition. However, this coffee shop is still very popular and is always full on weekends.
I ordered one of their menus, usually the name signature always makes me curious. Almost every coffee shop has a signature menu, maybe that is something the coffee shop is proud of.
Can I rate the coffee I tried this time? I can only give it a score of 7 out of 10, which is quite strange but helped by the sweet taste of the syrup, I quite like it. Indeed, it tastes very different than a frappe or latte. Not too sweet but it tastes like coffee, cinnamon and caramel syrup which is not very pronounced.
One thing I like, the cafe vibes are very good, the place is comfortable and there is live music on weekends. Lots of delicious snacks at affordable prices.

There are many varieties of coffee in the world, creativity has no limits. It is always good to try something different to get out of the routine, after all we only have one life to enjoy.
That's what makes me love exploring coffee, they have so many variations and so many different ideas from all over the world.
I'm a latte drinker. I don't like it with too much sugar. It's something that's part of me. I would say it's intrinsic to my personal tastes. I'm from generation z. I agree that millennials have a taste with a degree of inclination towards black coffee.
Regarding coffee cultivation, it depends on each country.
I also don't really like coffee with sugar, but you have to try it once in a while, so you know that coffee without anything is better than anything 😆
