A writing workshop without coffee just isn't the same / Un taller literario sin café, no es igual (eng-esp)

Hello, coffee lovers around the world.

As you know, I'm a writer. I started learning about creative writing at the Espacio Abierto Literary Workshop, where I later became one of the coordinators.

However, when I started, there was no coffee: now there is.

Our new headquarters are located in the classrooms of the Ludwig Foundation in Vedado. When they asked us what our needs were, one thing that couldn't be missing was coffee. Since then, we have everything ready before we even arrive.

We usually have between 10 and 15 writers, but sometimes we have more. And believe it or not, we all drink coffee.

It's incredible.

Luckily, the coffee thermoses are quite large, enough for everyone to make coffee whenever we want.

We placed the coffee table in a corner of the room so that people wouldn't get up in the middle of a lecture or a story reading.

We're all used to these moments being sacred.

Anyone who wants to have coffee should wait until the story reading is finished or the speaker pauses.

And there are truly few things better than listening to a story, or participating in a lecture, while enjoying a good cup of Cuban coffee.

And it's not the same to spend three hours, or more, listening to stories and discussing narrative techniques with nothing to drink but water.

Since moving to our current location, we enjoy not only the pleasure of the literature and art we love, but also the beverage we all enjoy: coffee.

Hola, amigos del café alrededor del mundo.

Como ustedes saben yo soy escritor. Comencé a aprender sobre la escritura creativa en el Taller Literario Espacio Abierto, del que luego me convertí en uno de sus coordinadores.

Sin embargo, cuando comencé, no había café: ahora sí.

Nuestra nueva sede radica en las aulas de la Fundación Ludwig, en el Vedado. Cuando nos preguntaron cuáles eran nuestras necesidades, algo que no podía faltar era el café. Desde entonces , antes de llegar, ya tenemos todo listo.

Por lo general acudimos entre 10 y 15 escritores sin embargo en ocasiones superamos esta cifra. Y por más te lo digo, quizás no lo crean, pero: todos tomamos café.
Es increíble.

Por suerte, los termos de café son bastante grandes y alcanzan para que todos hagamos café siempre que queramos.

Pusimos la mesita del café es como una esquina de la sala para que las personas no se pararan en medio de una conferencia o de la lectura de un cuento.
Todos estamos acostumbrados a que estos momentos son sagrados.
El que vaya a tomar café, debe esperar a que la lectura del cuento termine o conferencista realice una pausa.

Y de verdad que hay pocas cosas mejores que escuchar un cuento, o participar de una conferencia, tomándose una buena taza de café cubano.

Y que no es lo mismo estar durante tres horas, o más, escuchando cuentos y debatiendo sobre técnicas narrativas sin nada que tomar más allá del agua.

Desde que estamos en la sede actual, cada día disfrutamos no solo de placer de la literatura y del arte que amamos, sino que también disfrutamos de la bebida que nos gusta a todos: el café.
