Hey guys!
I just hit 57 wpm on my typing speed! My all-time high. It was previously 46 or 48; this is some major improvement.
I initially hit 52 wpm, and then I tried again, and then I saw 57. I am super excited that the time I took to learn touch-typing is finally paying off.
I want to express my gratitude to my brother, @olujay. I have always wanted to learn touch typing, but you exposing me to where I can learn and practice typingtest.com and monkeytype.com made my dreams a reality.
The way I flow while typing now makes me feel empowered to take on anything, especially writing, and here on Hive.
The goal of 120 wpm still remains. I hope you guys are going to be around then for when it actually comes to fruition, and you will celebrate with me.π

My consistency isn't bad either, and just take a look at my accuracy. I am definitely killing it.
Now when I go back into coding, I am not going to be at a disadvantage because of my terrible typing skills. I can confidently say I am a fluent typist on his way to becoming a not only fluent typist, but a very fast one at that.
Touch typing has increased my enthusiasm to write; it has made writing sweeter and made me more productive.
I remember when I started learning touch typing; learning is not sweet, especially when you are learning something new for the first time. You feel dumb and stressed at first because you have never done something similar before. It is human nature.
The process of submitting yourself to the process and remaining there brings the best out of one.
I just wanted to type fast; why was learning it feeling like secondary school all over again π . Well, I overcame it and now see where I am. It feels good. π

This reminds me that @olujay told me the other time to share my typing speed progress here. I am currently going trying to do the competitive speed which is 120WPM. At the moment I am stuck at 99WPM to 100 WPM when I really put my mind into it π Good luck on your journey, I think getting a keyboard that fits your finger helps!
I was doing this in a pitch black room just now π€£ it's a fun challenge because you just have to focus on the screen since you can't see the keyboard.
π₯΅π₯΅ you're already at 91 wpm. You're definitely beating me to the competition π
I'll consider that π€
Wow. Yes. I think I have a lot to do to eventually get to the point where I wouldn't need light to see where my hands land.
Thank you for stopping by! π
I used to do the full size keyboard but I switch to 60% and it helps. So, find what works for you but either way when you're already familiar with the placement of the caps, you won't have any difficult using either size.
Nice tip.
Caps or shift? For me landing my hands on the shift key fast is an issue that I am working on.
I am comfortable with both but I usually use Shift more often than Caps.
I saw on your profile that you are the founder of the Hive Book Club. Nice to meet you π
I love reading books. I have even done a review of one in the community before. I hope to do more.
I saw your stats and was motivated to make mine. It would be great if we had a way to motivate each other to improve in our typing speed. 120 WPM has always been my goal, but I have been lazy around in practicing and improving my speed.
105 wpm! π₯΅π₯΅ As howww. My oga one hundred π
Don't worry. We'll be motivating ourselves from now. That 120 wpm, we must reach π
Yes oh we must reach.. and we will pass it... what about going above the 100 level.. like 200 to 300 WPM!
Yess o.
Woahhhh. That's going to be mind blowing.
Is it even possible?
Yass! Curious about seeing you make that jump to 120 WPM
You got me on monkeytype again, and this happened...
Surprised even myself π

Shoutout to Jay for exposing you to the world of touch typing. Congratulations on your big win!
Big shout-out to him! Thank you bro! πͺ
You're welcome, sir.
Uhm, so I noticed you just unfollowed meβ¦. Mistake?
π
Mistake o. I don't even know how that happened.
Thank you π
I was impressed when I saw that you made 57 WPM, my guy. You are really improving for real. I knew the sweat I took before I was able to make it to 50 WPM although I was a lot younger then.
If you keep practicing. you will soon make it to 100 WPM.
ππππ Na me be that
ππ
100 wpm then 120 wpm ππ
Yinju my man! Now that's what I am talking about. Everyday something adds up, now look at you saying "it's paying off now." I'll be honest and tell you that you're growing rapidly. You're already touching down on 60 WPM. Next thing, you've become The Flash on they keys. Proud of you, brother. Hopefully, you'll continually share your growth with us and inspire people, just as you were inspired.
Congrats! I recommend going into a busy chat room, perhaps on Discord or an IRC chat, to get really fast.
In jr high school (so, 12 or 13 years old) I clocked at 40something wpm, and then didn't do a test again until adulthood where I discovered I type around 100wpm. I credit chat rooms, where I spent a lot of time in college, because if you can't keep up with the pace of the chat, you get left behind, lol.
Good luck with your further practice!
